Brilliant. Glad they will be on permanent display for fans to view.

Incidentally does anyone know what happened to the bronze bust of Canon Hannan that used to be in the West reception?

Feels like 10 years since I was at a Selkirk game and they were showing a pre build of this. Great to see it finally finished.

Those look great. The sort of thing that can, and does, go badly wrong in the sense that they don't look like the people represented but these are very good.

Brilliant! Just added up their goals total between them listed there and they scored 1074 goals for Hibs! Incredible!

I agree, there should be some narrative on those less famous who contributed

Tommy Younger the keeper was very well known. A Scotland regular and went on to play for Liverpool as well as becoming a Hibs director. His pub on Leith Walk was a fixture for a long time. Smoked cigars I recall.

Others like Bobby Combe also enjoyed fine Hibs careers. Bobby was overshadowed by the Five but still scored over 50 goals and played circa 300 games. John Paterson (Craig's dad) and Hugh Howie are others my dad would talk about.

The one that's now the Harp & Castle. It was called something else in between I think?

Jaynes.

Think it may have been the Walk Inn at some point as well.

Stunning, quite emotional seeing those. Big credit to Stephen Dunn, an outstanding Hibs man.

Slightly weird wording in the article - “ The event was organised in cohesion with the Hibernian Historical Trust.”

Fantastic to see this finallly realised what a legacy they’ve left our club - from the players and their bronze depiction.

One wish - miniatures are available for supporters to purchase as we turn 150…

I'm sure it was a Chinese restaurant at one point, maybe even before Tommy Younger had it.

There was a request from Hibs earlier this week for ideas around the 150 anniversary. Maybe contact Hibs and suggest it.

That's incredible. I wonder what % of our total goals they scored between them. A quick glance at the last 5 seasons and we are averaging less than 50 goals a season in the league so it's probably something like 10%!!!

That would certainly be going way back as it was certainly Tommy Younger's for the entire 1980s, possibly before, and into the 1990s.

Tommy made his money from fruit machines as I recall. Footballers, even those as high profile as that multi-title winning Hibs side, never earned enough not to have to keep working, which I guess is why so many of them owned pubs. Smith had the Right Wing, Reilly the Bowler's Rest, Turnbull had ET's and Willie Ormond's was in Musselburgh for many years. Not sure about Johnstone - maybe had a pub down south or in Selkirk.

Notable that despite long and prestigious playing and managerial careers Turnbull and Ormond still had to run pubs.

Gordon Smith had no problems with money.Even when he played he owned a newsagent/post office which he expanded into the Right Wing.Lived in a nice house in Dirleton, owned a Porsche and holidayed every year in the south of France.Think he was pretty well looked after financially :greengrin.

Bobby Johnstone was a Painter & Decorator to trade. I don’t know if he went back on the brushes after he stopped playing though.

North Berwick I think was where he stayed, although way out near the 9th hole on the golf course so probably near enough Dirleton.

Yes, I think a few cash 'donations' helped keep Smith at ER for so long.

He was a big pal of Bobby Locke the great South African golfer and also enjoyed cricket, travelling to watch England Test matches.

My late Dad’s hero, “there was naebody like him” was Dad’s description of Gordon.

A true superstar of his time, the Beckham of his day, and won 3 titles as a Hibs’ player which will never be surpassed I think it’s fair to say.

They were our greatest men, right enough.

And five titles overall, which is more than any club outwith the Ugly Sisters.

Smith was world class.

Your dad and my Dad would have had great chats in the pub, he had exactly the same view on Gordon.I was lucky enough to see him play 1956 onwards but I was too young to realise what I was seeing.

A good friend is an Oldham fan, he told me his grandad considered Bobby Johnstone the finest player he ever saw play for them. And that was towards the end of his career. He wished he had seen him in their strip in his heyday

He was over fifty when he played for an Edinburgh select v Bayern in the early 70’s. Best player on the pitch many would say.

Yes, Bobby is regarded by their fans as Oldham's greatest ever player.

Also the only player to score in two consecutive FA Cup finals.
