I've booked in to Tornadoes hospitality as a present for my brother in law's 40th at the Derby at the end of October - really looking forward to it, obviously it's a bit of mental splurge but c'est la vie.

Anyway, a couple of questions for those who have recently attended:

1) Simple one, how awesome is it :-P Quality of the scran, range (and price) of beer etc
2) Dress code - I'm not planning on turning up in bermuda shorts and flip flops, but colours allowed or frowned upon?

Can’t answer the above, but he aware the date of this game will change, as Hearts are in Europe the Thursday before

Presumably to the Sunday, yes, I'm aware of that possibility. No flights booked yet.

I'm sure Tornadoes is smart casual (ugh!). It usually confirms on the itinerary which is sent out the week of the game.

The hospitality is different class. I know people use it as a stick to beat the club with but if we are going to do it then we may as well do it well. It's spot on at just about every level on offer (I'm not totally sold on the Albion Bar offering but that isn't really hospitality in the strictest sense of the word).

You'll be fine dress code wise, i was in it last year and i had 2 young kids with me in full strips and my mate had a hoodie on. You do not need to wear smart/casual in any of the suites, it's not like the old days.

If you’re planning a proper day of it it’s worth paying the £40 per person for the inclusive drinks package, as you will probably end up spending at least this amount.

Also includes the £40 odd bottles of wine so worth it even if you're just have one (each :greengrin)

Can't vouch for Tornadoes but Pioneers was excellent when I was there.
Good food, great surroundings and a wee tip to our waitress at the start meant the beers were arriving before the one we had was even finished.

How busy were these hospitality lounges last season? I particularly wonder how popular they are in games v’s other opponents, Old Firm and Hearts aside?

I’m sure there was complaints previously that Old Firm fans were buying up hospitality last season so I’d presume they’re busy for those games.

Why sold on Tornadoes and not Albion. Only difference is a meal?

Pioneers is more expensive however i much preferred the tornadoes

Tornadoes you can have a drink at half time (included in your inclusive drinks package) whereas pioneers you cannot due to the pitch being visible

Also if taking kids, the tornadoes is better as the players usually walk through that way to leave. Pioneers you only get the MOTM player up

Tornadoes is a buffet and Pioneers a 4 course meal. Also in different areas, tornadoes is down at the far end of the Albion Bar while Pioneers is the floor above overlooking the pitch.

Tornadoes isn’t a buffet.

The Edinburgh club is a carvery style though.

I agree and it is part of the appeal of these things for me. I’ve not done the Hibs hospitality (for football at least - I did the one for the Proclaimers gig) but I was at hospitality at Millwall a year ago and it was refreshing to see most people dressed up. Not necessarily everyone wearing full suit and tie but dress trousers, shirt and smart shoes.

Edit: I know the rules are different in England but you could see the pitch from hospitality up to a certain amount of time before KO then they brought blinds down and they remained down at HT so you could have a drink.

How long does it take to get from your seat back into hospitality at ER? That was the only downside to Millwall. It took most of HT to get to/from hospitality that you felt like you were ramming the snacks and drinks down you due to lack of time. We ended up missing the second half KO.

Pioneers you literally walk out to the Executive seating West Lower rear takes a few minutes

Half time you have a delicious Steak Pie and Tea Coffee waiting for you

Post match drinks till 6pm usually preordered waiting for you IIRC

That’s very positive. My fear is that they become an expensive white elephant. Hopefully, we recoup and make a good return on them which benefits the team over coming years.

I think we outsourced the hospitality, might have been for 10 years, so we are guaranteed a fixed income regardless of how it performs.

Of course you want it to do well because that allows us to push for a better deal next time it goes out to tender.

Does anyone frown upon away fans in Hospitality? Back again for the Sunde game end of November but was planning on doing the package - staying quiet is a thing but also

Has anyone ever done tornadoes hospitality for an early kick off? Looking at booking for rangers game in January. When booking it still says a three course carvery but that lounge shuts 1 hour after FT. Does the offering change for early ko? Cheers.

Yeah. It's a special occasion why not dress for it and look the part?

I was there for the early derby. Stays open until 4 for the scran, beer from 11.

Great experience to be honest, my brother in law was well chuffed
