Hibernian Football Club today turns 149 years old.

Today also marks one year until our 150th celebrations begin.

The 2025/26 campaign will mark a historic milestone for the Club and we have now commenced our official one-year countdown to our 150th Anniversary celebration.

The Club are currently working hard to ensure a fitting celebration is created that respects our rich history, honours our cultural heritage and continues to build the Hibernian Football Club legacy.

To understand what fans would like celebrated by the Club for our 150th Anniversary, fan surveys will be made available shortly to contribute ideas to help sculpt this landmark occasion.

Supporters can find out more information and how to get involved via the link below.

There's not really any information on that link, other than there'll be merchandise to buy. Which just about sums up how the club sees us - as merchandise purchasers.

Really looking forward to this. Surely includes a pre season trip to Ireland.

Looking forward to this.

Hopefully a celebration that captures the essence of the club from it's roots and origins to the present day. Hopefully there will be something for everyone and people can pick and choose the parts that most appeal to them.

Happy 149th Birthday Hibernian. Sadly I think we're more in need of a Get Well message than a birthday greeting.
I've zero faith in the Club's hierarchy to organise a fitting tribute, however, I'll be checking the plans they announce with interest.
I keep banging on about it - but we should have a plaque on the exterior of the former St. Mary' Street Halls to commemorate the founding of the club on this date in 1875. That would be a good start.

We're all hurting after Sunday's result, but how about we keep this thread upbeat and positive. Many other doom and gloom threads to post negativity..

Literally 99% of the 150th Anniversary chat on these boards in recent months has been about 150th merchandises and what people would like to see made available.

I personally have no links to Ireland whatsoever but I feel we really need to celebrate the the origins of our club.

Maybe a friendly against Shamrock Rovers?

Should have a pre season tour of Ireland. Cliftonville (or Linfield [emoji6]), Derry City, Sligo Rovers, Bohs, Cork City. Would be a great time.

Edit: my apologies to Donegal Hibby should he read this, we can’t be lowering ourselves to playing daft wee teams like Finn Harps, sorry mate [emoji16]

Actually that's a brilliant idea. I'd happily make that my main holiday for next year and go to every game

Some interesting ideas here : plaque in St Mary`s Street , Hibernian FC Museum , tour of Ireland ( probably 1 or 2 matches as Irish clubs will have their league matches and European qualifiers just as we `ll have LC or European qualifiers ) , match at ER ( we won`t get a big club to come at that time of year so better a , for example , Pat Stanton Select ( Present / Past Hibernians ) v Neil Lennon ( example ) Select with namings of stands , Women`s match at ER to recognise importance of Hibs in devt of women`s football in Scotland ( Hibs v big European club possible ? ) , commemorative strips - we can all argue about hoops , colours etc but for me main thing would be strip (s) without advertising - original colours and badges no advertising on shirts , shorts or socks during 2025 - 26 ( and hopefully beyond ) , contact with older supporters who no longer make games , reach out to Hibernian supporters all over the globe ( see videos of fans in Australia in 2016 , fans in North America , Caithness , Ireland , Lancashire , Hibbies from Poland , Spain etc who became Hibbies and have gone home etc
We all have loads of ideas . Main thing is to celebrate our unique history without making it a yet another commercial project .

I sent an idea across using the form provided. I was thinking of Hibs fans across the generations, and how much the club meant to fans who are no longer here. The club could ask fans to look out and email across photos of Hibs fans of the past. These could be collated into a piece of art, mosaic style.

The club could print posters and provide a key so fans can find their family members photos.

A nice way to pay homage to those that supported the club through days past.

Allows them to fish out the [email protected] email addresses and then Hibs can prank call them

I also believe the data is stored in the US so doesn't comply with GDPR. I won't be taking part.

The point being that collecting the data in the survey means that it's now being stored outside the EU and in the US which has completely different legislation and attitudes to sharing. I think it's only correct to let fellow fans be aware of this prior to submitting their info.

If Kieran wants to PM me then I'm happy to share my knowledge but don't think it's appropriate to do so openly.

I put that in the survey as well.

I was at the mass in 1991 at St Pat's to commemorate 100 years since Canon Hannan passed away. Church was packed including owner, Board, Alex Miller and his management team plus hundreds of Hibbies of all and no religions. I'd like to see a similar commemoration as part of our 150th celebrations.

There is a link to a survey giving you amble opportunity to post your own ideas and inform the club of preferences that are already being thought about. No idea what you are talking about as the whole page is relevant 150

I said the same in the survey.

It might not be to everyone's tastes and that is fine, everything planned won't be to my tastes, but it's where it all began and that should be acknowledged. Hopefully this is facilitated for those of us who would like it. Hibs quietly helped the parish out last year with a donation so there is still a relationship there which is great.

It looks like Hibs already have a lot of good ideas judging by the leading questions in the survey so I'm pretty confident we'll get it right.

Just completed the survey.

Would love the club to replicate the iconic 1973 home kit. Best Hibs kit I've ever seen. Dark bottle green, crewe neck. Nothing flash.

I reckon it would be fitting that the first team wear this kit in 2025.

Would like to see 2 gates with Harps at the centre of the gates at either of the entrances to the stadium with the names of our founders on them.

Have not long filled in the survey, good questions imo.

A decent friendly match at Easter road looks on the cards, I did say would like a 70's style green and white kit with a harp, the what whole kit should be our home will still rumble on, would have no issues with a white home kit for one season.

I suggested a home friendly against Napoli and remakes of the most famous cup win shirts. Worth it for the 91 Skol Cup alone.

My main hope for the whole thing is that whatever special shirt we do come up with, that it’s really special. Scotland nailed it with their 150th, hoping we can do the same!! Oh and that we also actually wear it for the season.

Good shout for the friendly, Real Madrid not wanting revenge? We had a good couple of tussles with Liverpool.

Would like to see Michael Whelehan honoured a bit more. He was our co-founder and first ever captain. Quite a legacy for someone who was then just 21.

There's a bust made of him but that's about the only mention of him at Easter Road.

I wonder if they will try and get a gig at ER with The Proclaimers headlining. A guaranteed SoL would be quite a nice way to commemorate 150
