Just watching the highlights back from yesterday, and just before St Mirren score the 3rd goal Amos makes the worst attempt at trying to block a pass/punt up the park, he actually just jumps out the way. Anyone know the last time he played a full 90 mins? Or what position he is meant to play?

Thought he actually done well and looked sharp yesterday.
I’ve noticed quite a lot of players jump up like that when players clear it along the deck, don’t know if they just hope it’s going high or that if they jump and it’s low the defender etc will be there for it
The 3rd goal was just amateur all over though. We’re in comfortable possession and in newells attempt to drive forward he takes a really heavy touch which leads to pin ball before the st Mirren pick it up, and within 2 passes they’re through

Amos was a player I thought would be a great signing when we were linked with him in January having seen him play for QPR a few times. I also was ready to write off the first few months of his time here as he worked his way back to sharpness having been out for so long. But he's had a pre-season now and had a few games but yet still looks really unimpressive.
He does have a bit of an engine on him so I'm hoping with some confidence he can start to get on the ball and dictate things more than he has done because at the moment he's nowhere near producing the standard to justify starting in a midfield that is already toiling.

I thought Amos looked lively when he came on too, thought he tried to impact the game at least.
Give him a run of games I suspect he will offer more than what’s in midfield currently,

Who was it that failed to track back for the third, made a wee effort then gave up!

Another who’s come in with a half decent pedigree who’s not been able to nail down a place in a rotten midfield. This guy seems permanently trying to get match fit, thought he’d be a stand out when fully up and running but, yet again, unable to make his mark. I think it’s time we stop putting any players on a pedestal who’ve played in the championship. Crazy idea but how about we sign players who’ve a proven track record of performing in the SPL🤷🏼

I don’t think we need to sign players who are proven in this league but we need to sign them with a bit of a plan.
When we signed Amos where did we see him fitting in to the team? To me, it looked like signing a player for the sake of a signing. All our midfielders run around a bit, do a wee bit of everything without really doing anything. There doesn’t really seem to be any plan as to how we get the best out of any of them and they don’t particularly compliment each other.

He's been ***** in pre season and that didn't change yesterday.

Was more confused we brought Amos on ahead of Levitt. I know Levitt has his faults but we needed a goal and he's the far more likely of the 2 to score/assist

I’ve got a feeling he could be away
Seems hodge plays a similar role and then with Amos coming in ahead of him
Don’t think he’ll be keen to sit on the bench and he’s one we could probably get a fee for

Probably shows where he is at in Grays pecking order. Wouldn't be surprised to see him leave.

One of the issues the current football staff have. I think him and NMW were signed permanently on the back of knowing the investment was coming. Both have been average but they won’t be cheap. At least they are in some way useable unlike a lot of the other players we still have to move on.

That's what I thought Levitt is able to pass forward and create something

It’s easy too look lively when you are 2-0/3-0 down plus st mirren took there foot of the gas.

I remember Danny Haynes looking lively as we got beat 2-0 by St Mirren the season we got relegated.

Really can’t see why we bring players like this from England, he’s no better than many players in the championship in Scotland. He’s just below average.

I haven’t been impressed by Amos.
But then I’m not impressed by our midfield in general, and still don’t believe that player of the Year in Australia, Josh Nisbet who is available, wouldn’t improve our midfield.

It's interesting as I'm sure the noises around him from the players were he was looking very good
Hasn't translated into match day though

I absolutely believe he wouldn’t improve it and it would appear most other sides don’t think he’d improve theirs either. I’ve seen him 4 or 5 times and he’s not good enough for us imo.

From our seats in row G behind the goal he didn't have a good game
He's emblematic of the sorts of people we've tried to sign for years- guys who only know 1 side of the game
Too many Mallan, Levitt, Amos type players who only want to do the light touch stuff when we have the ball (but no interest really when we don't have the ball & need to defend)
Balance in midfield is what we need - the developing Scottish midfielders
For Fyvie, McGeough, McGinn, Allan before see McCowan, O'Hara, Lennon Miller now
That's where smart upward investment lies imo

I wouldn’t go writing Amos off just yet. There is a player there. There was a player in there before all his injuries, so far he's nowhere near the player he was.I'd have thought he would have looked better by now, i'm not convinced he will/can get back to what he used to be, as that player would be a real assett for us.

That’s certainly not the type of player Amos was for Spurs and QPR but injuries may have taken their toll.

I don't think Amos looks disinterested but his body language is not that of somebody enjoying their football.
His head's down and he looks like he's struggling to catch a break.
Folk are saying the same of Vente but he just looks out of form to me, he seems spirited and positive enough.

I had a look into the proportion of athletes who recover from acls to return to pre-injury levels, and it’s actually pretty high, 80%-90%. Amos has had two tears (or ruptures) but he did his left at Spurs and his right at QPR so it shouldnt be as worrisome as if it was the same leg. Hes also young.

I’ve done my ACL and although I don’t have the support professionals do it’s an absolutely pain whilst I still try and play football.
For example I’ll train one day and the next it balloons up and I’m unable to bend it more than 50% the next day.
Or it has an impact on my other muscles and joints, some days my knee is just sore for no reason.
I feel like both knees would really effect your balance and way you move
Like I said he’s got the best possible physios etc available so hopefully doesn’t impact him as much

Sorry to hear that, ive had keyhole surgery on my knee to repair torn miniscus and its indeed a pain. Im too old to worry about it affecting my football skills though.
