View Full Version : Leader wanted

Whether it's on the park or off it, we have no leadership.

On the park we have a collection of players garnered from the lower leagues who we cannot count on when the going gets tough. Apart from Mykola, most of us would argue this was our best starting eleven. When it got tough today, they all disintegrated. It has been an horrendous start to the season and barring a miracle is not going to get any better in the next 2 games. We are only in August and the home game against Dundee is already looking crucial for the mood and season going forward.

Which brings me to the bigger issue. Leadership off the park. Is there anyone left out there still supporting the Gordons, Kensell & McPherson. If there is, the number will be dwindling with each inept team performance. The decisions made by these people, the worst being protecting themselves, have been a disaster and to the detriment of the team on the park. The fanfare of Black Knights deal has come to nothing and possibly made any serious takeover by someone else more difficult. No, I do not want Foley to become the majority shareholder as Hibs. Never.

I can only hope there is someone or a consortium out there with Hibs roots, looking to buy the club. We need to rid ourselves of these people and give us a fresh start. How we go about this, I don't know, but it is what we need.

We have Joe Newell, as long as you dont mind him disapearing, he could be it?

I thought we had just signed 2 leaders in Ekpiteta and O’Hora.

Didn’t really notice it today though. Might also help if the Hibs staff looked interested, especially Gray, just stood with hands on his pockets as the team combusted in front of him.

No disagreeing that on occasion we need stronger characters on the park… but is David Gray not a leader?

Owner, board and entirely new playing staff needed.

We need characters and leaders all over the park. The 2016 team had it in spades. I think bringing in McCowan from Dundee and O’Hara from St Mirren would have greatly helped as well as transforming our awful midfield. Instead we’re stuck with multiple midfielders who probably wouldn’t get a game in any team in this division. It’s a truly awful mess which won’t be easily fixed.

Robinson was animated on the touchline, constantly talking and giving instructions. Even at 3-0 up in the 90th minute he was screaming at one of his players.

Gray, hands in pockets looked lost.

I don’t think any amount of arm waving or fist beating changes anything when players are playing the way ours were playing for 20-30 minutes after half time.

As I’ve already said, I feel sorry for David Gray. I think he’s found himself in a job he didn’t think he would get, but one he felt he probably had to apply for. Reality might be setting in and, no matter how silly the board will appear, the next few games might seal his fate.

I remember Lennon rotating his captains at one point in 2016-17, there were so many contenders.

No leader, no-one good enough to lead by example. Depressing.

He is under pressure already. No doubt. Humiliated by Kelty and schooled by St Mirren is an horrendous start.

A football managers job is tenuous. In reality it is likely the only chance he would be offered the Hibs job due to the farce at the club.

He spouted out the well rehearsed cliches post match today. To be fair to him he stuck to the facts. But it was like listening to the previous three managers without most of the cr*p.

Finally, on hibs.net there is a general consensus that all the managers we have had cannot be idiots. It's clear to everyone the idiots are Ian Gordon, Kensell and McPherson. The club is dying with these three arrogant, sell centred individuals at the helm.

In the car boot sales looking for treasure. Ain’t going to happen. We need to identify and sign better players it’s that simple. A club our size is being outdone by clubs we expect to be at least giving a game home and away. Hibs have reverted back to being the easy game on everyone’s fixture.

We’ve had months to prepare for this season knowing what the turnover of players would be and sold the support short yet again.
Alarm bells for me was two free transfers in a position we need an injection of quality.
We need about 6 rabbits out the hat. And whoever is handing the list of targets over for possible transfers needs to have a wee bit more ability in finding players.

Malky Mackay said the ideal squad size was around 24-26 roughly

2 players each position battling it out

With a youngster looking to break through / learn etc

Match day one after the money available and summer of change chat

We’ve signed 2 goalies, 2 centre half’s and a striker on loan

Hibs fans being short changed again

There's a lot more to Robinson than just being animated on the touchline. Great manager in our league who should have been in our dugout, if the board had any ambition.
