View Full Version : Same midfield - Same result

Honestly how painfully obviously it. Of course the defense has major questions to answer for today, but at least we've tried to sort that to a degree with two new centre halfs. Will have to give them a good few league games at this level to properly access them.
However, that midfield, where do you even begin? They're basically all the same players rolled into one. Safety, cautious type players, that makes lots of sideways passes, barely run at players, barely make any beautiful defense splitting passes, hell they don't even try them half the time!

How we lined up today with the same central midfielders as we did last season is nothing short of astonishing. We are so so badly lacking in so many areas but this area is painfully obvious.

Big problems at our club right now.

Same forwards, same result. Star striker misses from under the bar. Fan favourite "boyler" missing a 1v1 at 1-0 with 15 to go.

Games are won and lost in midfield and our midfield get bullied time and time again

Goals also win games. Missing from under the bar is quite costly too.

Absolutely, completely agree with that, however if we persist with this midfield. We will struggle massively

It’s a midfield that doesn’t create and can’t protect the back four. Apart from that, it’s average.

I think we're really past the point of blaming individual parts of the team for that performance. The rot goes far, far deeper now.

A point that can’t be ignored, they cost us at Kelty and they did again today. Team fell apart at 1-0 down but we should’ve been ahead before then.

Wont comment yet on the centre halves, but our midfields sheite, both full backs are sheite and we cant score.

Well done Hibs.

Everyone is soo focused on forwards and attackers every year. Board / managers.

We’ve signed Youan, Vente. We even had the quality of Myzi who scored goals. And Marcondes.

We still didn’t climb up the league. Why?

Because our midfield contains Newell and Campbell. And the other guys are all the same profile.

Nothing is going to change at Hibs until we revamp the whole midfield and find different profiles of players in there.

I’m tired of saying it.

We will be 7th or 8th and it’s because of our midfield. The money we have spent on forward players, we’d be better off with Simon Murray up front if we actually spent 500k and 700k on proper CMs.

Crying out for someone at club to ever address it. Gray should know best, he seen the combinations of Bartley, , Mcginn, Mcgeough and Allan first hand. How they all had different qualities that complimented each other.

The club is a mess and board/Kensell are my main targets. I can’t stand thought of them throwing Gray under the bus.

All I will say though for Gray is I won’t be able to defend him if he persists with Josh Campbell as the creative number 10 at Hibs. We’ve seen some wonderful players over the years , he is not the answer. He shouldn’t even be near the 11.

Hanlon & co were pilloried despite being exposed week in week out playing behind it and our new combo will be the same. It's one of the main reasons we rarely keep clean sheets.

Been saying that for years. Playing in our defence is a thankless task as you have to be aware that the ball or runners can come through the middle totally unmolested at any time.

I'm not sure what people were expecting with the appointment of Gray. He was the easy option and his previous spells in charge were not exactly exciting.
