Something has to have happened behind the scenes there. Play off final last season and one of the favourites to go up this year surely.
Aye they narrowly lost 1-0 away to Airdrie yesterday, but that happens.

The club statement says that results have not met expectations since the turn of the year.
Utter madness, when you actually look at their results.
I was at the Raith game yesterday and they were awful, but not bad enough to sack the manager.
By the way Stevenson was their best player

Clubs who know what they’re doing don’t sack managers after 1-5 games of a league season.
If they’re needing sacked at that point they’ve either done something that meant they shouldn’t have been appointed in the first place or have been let go at the end of the previous season.
Shambles.

Strange turn of events. Could have been made clear to him that the Premier League was the needed outcome of the the play offs and if not achieved they could have done a mutual. He'll not be out of the game long term.

But they would have done that at the time, surely, not waited until after the first game of the new season. And allowed him to bring in new signings.

Think the fact that it was Airdrie yesterday is a big factor.
They couldn't beat Airdrie at all last season. Had they won even a couple of games against them, they would have been promoted. Yesterday probably showed that things won't be any better this season.

Sacked because there seems to be no progress from last season. The owners are clearly ambitious, and just another gallant failure isn't enough for them.

You’ll know better than me, have they significantly strengthened from last season, other than the 2 Hibs boys, although Hanlon hasn’t played yet
There are some good teams in the championship this season like
Falkirk/ Ayr etc

If Murray was that close to going why wait all summer and let him bring in players?

Agreed. Can you imagine the push on here for a sacking if Monty had been given the summer and lost to Kelty then St Mirren? We'd have another manager coming in bemoaning the lack of time to work with the squad from having no pre-season with them.

We bumped into them at Tynecastle not long after and they both greeted my grandad like a long lost friend.

Heard he's an absolute weapon of a guyHe doesn't come across as a ray of sunshine in interviews, but that's not really the point of a football manager. They are supposed to deliver results and Murray certainly delivered on that front last season with RR being the only side to run Dundee Utd close for the title.Astonishing decision after just ONE league game!!!

Heard he's an absolute weapon of a guy If Ian Murray was a weapon of a guy there would not have been a snowball’s chance he would have convinced no men’s fools Hanlon and Stevenson to continue their career in Kirkcaldy. You might contest his managerial ability but your hearsay on his character is well off target.

I do remember seeing something about a fall out between the players and Murray and it was used as an excuse for their form at the start of the year
What I’ll say though is a fallout doesn’t mean the manager is a bad guy. The manager could actually be in the right but it just always sounds his fault and that they’ve “lost the dressing room”
Raith apparently have put in a lot of money this last 12 months though so maybe they think they can get more from the squad - which is brave
One game into a season when you’ve let him recruit and have pre season is wild though

Had the misfortune to sit next to him at ER in hospitality. As a former player I was surprised to find him pretty distant, disengaged in Hibs chat and a bit arrogant tbh. Others at the table felt the same. Probably the years spent at Ibrox rubbed off on him.

He seems a quiet guy, head down cap on and really doesn’t look to chat with folk which is fair enough, but my mum said it’s the quiet ones you have to watch out for.

Murray dismissal reasons revealed
Earlier this week, Raith Rovers announced the decision to part ways with manager Ian Murray. The 43-year-old, who represented both Hibs and Rangers during his playing days, was appointed in 2022. His contract has been terminated despite the Rovers finishing second in the Scottish Championship last season.
“I can see why it came as a shock to fans and the wider football community given last season's exploits. This isn't a knee-jerk reaction based on one performance, five performances or eight including the pre-season games,” Raith Rovers CEO Andrew Barrowman explained in an interview with the club.
“It was formed over a number of months. We live and breathe this club. We see things, we hear things, we feel things that inform these opinions. Despite what people think, there was no flashpoint and no falling out. I spoke to Ian a couple of times on Sunday and he was shocked. I don't think he agreed with my points, but I think he understood the rationale, which is a mark of the individual.
"People talk about why we didn't do it at the end of the season. Rightly or wrongly, we believed Ian deserved the opportunity for us to be better. Hindsight's a wonderful thing and could we have acted differently? Possibly. "Ultimately, we don't believe Ian was the man to take us forward and that's why we came to the decision. I don't think Ian comes out of the situation badly at all. He did a good job, even previous to our time at the club. I don't think his CV has been damaged and I'm sure he'll go on to become successful in his next job. "I want to express our gratitude to Ian and the job he did. We all experienced some pretty special moments last year and he led us to that."

Corrr coming to the Pars would be great. McPake is defo struggling (hope he turns it around)
It does seem a very strange reason for punting him after one game but that's football.
Who knows IM might have been touting himself for the Hibs job pre SDG being appointed? Let''s be honest he shafted Hibs as a player going along to Govan by letting his contract run down.
Hopefully he gets a new job and sticks it to Raith though
