Meaning in terms of games played, and this isn’t a knock at the club as our hands are tied with being in the cup competition
But what are people’s thoughts about the opposition we’ve played before playing St Mirren on Sunday?
Edinburgh City
Duisburg
PAOK
Elgin City
Queens Park
Kelty Hearts
Watford
Peterhead
Overall it’s been a good start (Kelty aside).
The better teams we played, PAOK and Watford play actual football and look to keep the ball on the deck.
I’m intrigued to see how the team cope with St Mirren on Sunday as they will press us right up the pitch, be physical and make it really hard for us - something I don’t think we’ve really faced yet.
I’ve been really impressed with the new signings of O’Hora, Ekpiteta and Bursik however they’ve not had the toughest of starts. It will be interesting to see how they do.
Bursik for example has only had to make a handful of saves since joining.
Should we have tried to get an extra friendly in somewhere with a team a bit more similar to St Mirren?
Or will it benefit us having played 4 competitive games already?

Imagine the chat on here if we had to manage the choice of players with another friendly.
On the whole I think it has been a good pre season. One result aside and the performance that day deserved a bit more too.
Early days and we need more players but I think we’ve looked a lot better to watch than last season but let’s see until we are playing competitive league games.
I was looking at the St Mirren squad earlier. I think we can get a bit overly obsessed with how imperfect we are. Being competitive and organised goes a long way.

Agree not bad start, although we will see how we are when league starts. I was hopeful that we could bring another 2-3 signings in the door before league started but transfer window open til end of August.....

Said on another thread it's the best "pre season" we've had in years in terms of results, goals scored and goals conceded.

Elgin, Kelty and Peterhead were not pre season games.

Worth noting that St Mirren play in Europe on Thursday and we know too well how that can affect a squad, regardless of where the tie is (they are at home).
It's not a meaningless game after the first leg has been tied up, they drew 0-0 and have to win to progress.

I started this thread before the first league game of the season.
2 league games in and a cup game against Celtic now
What’s everyone’s thoughts?

We’re pretty much where I’d have expected to be.
That’s not a great place - but it was an inevitability as a result of a catalogue of historical errors.
I actually think we’re on the right track but we might continue to be a bit “rough around the edges” right through to October as players arrive, get fit and bed into the team.
Hopefully we don’t find ourselves marooned too far from where we want to be before that corner is turned, and hopefully the fans stick with the team.
But the preparation was always what it was going to be as a result of managerial departures, sporting director appointment and the club being a directionless mess for 5 years or so.
