Not long on the back of Oostende going under now Bordeaux.
🇫🇷 RIP Girondins de Bordeaux, 1920-2024.
Amidst crisis-level financial troubles, Bordeaux have informed the FFF they won't be renewing their professional licence. All player contracts are to be terminated and their training centre will be closed.

Literally just read that online. Crazy stuff.

That's incredible.
Was in Bordeaux a couple of months back, lovely place - lots of cash.
I had heard the TV deal was causing issues for many clubs.

Not to take any positives from a good clubs demise, but could any their players do a job for us? Very Unlikely to be our market but 30 odd French league 2 players presumably becoming free agents is an opportunity for someone.

They're not disappearing, they are just moving part-time and closing their training centre to save money. Finished 13th in the 2nd division last year but were then demoted (remind you of anyone?) because of financial issues. They'll now play 3rd division football as a semi-professional side unless they get new owners.

You do wonder if this will become more common amongst clubs you wouldn’t expect to go under.

That’s awful news. I was at their last ever game at their old stadium a few years back.
They were such an iconic club, particularly during the 80’s with their black strip.

Shocked at that, obviously not privvy to their financial situation but have been a very successful club in France pretty sure they are multiple league winners over the years.

We played FC Dnipro who went bust in 2019. Dnipro-1 are an unofficial successor of FC Dnipro. Don’t think they’re recognised as the same club in terms of honours etc.

Heard Barcelona are still due them money? Not sure if true or not and how much money they were due and if it would have made any difference.
Edit .. actually think the Barcelona thing may be incorrect

To be fair, that company is in a better state than ICT are currently.
Their directors are in a tough position. It's difficult to see how they are going to continue as they are, and this may be the best offer they can get.

Do you know how big their debts are?
As at May 23, about £2m.
That was a year before relegation to League 1, so will probably be much higher now, with a substantial drop in income from now on.
It looks as if they do own their stadium, which they got for nothing, so they be able to work something out with that.
