Topping the section isn’t enough to be seeded. You need to be one of the best 3 top finishers. So that’s almost gone already tbh. Brutal.

So you're saying we might get a derby? I hear we're due a win so it's basically a free QF.

The last thing we need just now is a derby.

It’s hard to get the head round with these opponents we can’t win four games and secure the seeding.
Just not good enough. We had the players available to win the game and we ****ed about with the starting XI and ****ed it for no one but ourselves.

Ourselves and Aberdeen are by far the biggest clubs in the competition. Can’t remember us winning all 4 group games in this new format when it should be happening virtually every year given the level of opposition

Disrespect the opposition at your peril. I hope Gray is a fast learner as he must shoulder the blame. We had the players to win this game easily but he chose to give weaker players a run out.

Are we in danger of not topping the section therefore not being seeded in 1/4finalIf we fail to beat Peterhead then we probably won't qualify at all. An absolute shambles.Edit: Actually a draw and then winning the bonus point would probably be enough. But not certain.

We will be fine, none of the other teams in the group have a golden quadrant. Not that they're prepared to talk publicly about anyway.

I wonder if that sort of arrogance is what holds us back! There is a post on this thread which says "Disrespect the opposition at your peril". We don't have a divine right to beat anyone. Being the biggest doesn't mean being the best.

I know results involving the other teams versus each other can rarely dictate our performance against each other but… BUT…. Queens Park beat Peterhead 5-0 and we beat Queens 5-1…. Anything but a win and a good performance will be a terrible result and would be quite telling.

Kelty Hearts lost on penalties to Elgin, a team who played 70 minutes with 10 men. We beat Elgin 5-0. That was a horrendous result against Kelty, not acceptable in any way.
We have actually been given one of the easiest groups to qualify from. Not topping this group and being one of the top 3 seeded teams would be an embarrassment.

You’ll need 12 points to be seeded so that’s not happening

12 points was always what we should have been expected from this group. Far too many players in this current Hibs squad that shouldn't be here, but then that is so obviously evident and not on the current management. David Gray has so much work to do on this squad, I really hope he can do it.

We were playing part time, League One, Kelty Hearts.
Losing to a team like that is, simply, one of the worst results in our history. It’s a total embarrassment and undoes the optimism that was building.

Even beating Peterhead doesn't guarantee we'll win our group now........ Kelty can get 10 points with 2 wins in their remaining games, the best we can manage is now 9.

Just looked at our section and if Kelty win their games, they would be above us???It could be another disaster!!!!

3 second place teams will go through as well. I think 9 points plus our goal difference would see us going through as 1 of them. Crazy that it’s a consideration right enough. Although I don’t think Kelty will win both games anyway.

I don’t know about disaster but it would certainly be yet another embarrassment.

Don't think Kelty will win both either, and agree regarding the 9 points. Still a lot of ifs and buts of permulations to even try and and predict.
It might mean a tougher fixture in the next round, which should easily have been avoided, but blew it yesterday

Tbf there's no team yet with 9 points after 3 games so not necessarily. Doesn't take away from how bad yesterday was though.

Think only three group winners are seeded right? You'd expect Aberdeen, Dundee and Motherwell to finish with more than the 9 we can get.
