Redemption time for Rory? Bob back to back? Can anyone beat the Scheff?Anyone else fancy Tommy Fleetwood? Aberg to get it done early in his professional career?Anyone heading down? Im thinking a McIlroy victory with Fleetwood and Lowery pushing him on.

As always, very hard to predict a winner. This year I've went with Schaufflee, Harman, Fleetwood,Pirez, Hovland and Siem. All each way bets and some very big prices at that.

I'm going down Saturday and Sunday.

Looks tough already. Mcilroy is done. Be lucky to make the cut at this rate.

Hope tiger makes it so I can see him.

I think it'll be someone who plods around who wins.

It’s tough out there. Can’t see McIlroy winning from there. He’ll make top ten but not win.

Tommy and aberg can’t close out. Both more than capable of closing out coming down the stretch. Not sure why you think otherwise. Neither known chokers. Me on the other hand. Playing a comp at Largs last Sunday. Finished double bogey, bogey , doubke bogey, bogey to finish third handicap and 5th scratch. The very definition of a choke.

Zander could do very well

Look at Aberg’s recent Sunday rounds when in contention. Don’t think he’s broke 70 in his last 5 when within touching distance.

Would like to be proven wrong!

It looks brutal down at Troon. It's even hard work watching these guys struggle in the wind.

McIntyre said he and his family went 'wild' celebrating his Scottish Open win and that he had a brutal hangover. I've no issue with that but it struck me as a bit unusual in today's highly disciplined sporting world, especially with Open practice starting pretty much the day after.

Was anyone questioning it when he shot +1 in difficult conditions yesterday?

Btw, he's -2 over the last 7 holes so perhaps his hangover is clearing 😃

I quite like the fact that in the days of immaculate preparation and slightly dull, robotic sporting characters he’s twice taken time out of a hectic schedule to celebrate what were massive moments for him.

He’s a young lad a long way from home most of the time and he’s absolutely entitled to have his own priorities in life, odd as they may seem.

What's not to like about Rory? Wonderful golfer and good guy.

As for McIntyre he won't be celebrating like that again, a one-off and didn't affect his round yesterday at all.

I can see why Tiger Woods still draws the biggest crowds of the day despite coming nowhere near challenging. McIlroy not so much. I guess it mostly comes down to him still being one of the few home hopes for the title.

When it all comes together for him, he's superb. There's always just something that makes him fall short every time and it's often something different.

His is an interesting story because you'd think his ability would have led to more majors, he made a very fast start but to go a decade without winning one is really pretty astonishing bearing in mind how well he has played in patches during that time.

MacIntyre makes the cut. After playing the opening 4 holes at +8 he was -4 for the rest of the round.

The course made lots of them look silly today. Guy who won in Dubai recently hit 91.

No issue either with him getting on it and going wild after any win never mind The Scottish Open even with a major the following week. He’ll also have played Troon plenty enough. Maybe different at a venue he was unfamiliar with. I guess it’s just Boab.

He certainly did a terrific job to turn that nightmare start around yesterday. Eight over after four holes. I pretty much stopped playing golf when our kids were born so it must be 15 years since I played in a medal but that's the sort of start I'd have been well capable of making on a windy day!

26 PGA tour wins (tied 22nd in the all time list, behind guys like Trevino, Watson, Mickelson, Palmer, Hogan, Nicklaus, Woods, Snead)
17 European tour wins
4 majors
Ryder Cups...

Always there or thereabouts on most Sundays he plays. Has always been one of the top players. By all accounts a decent human being with good morals. When he's on it, he's the best out there. What's not to like?

I agree.

I couldn't believe that a guy of his qualities had to go thru the final qualifying stage before getting into the Open proper. It would be fitting if he goes on to win imo.

McIlroy 12 over. I've never really understood his popularity. One of the most consistently brilliant golfers in the business. He just can't get over the line in majors anymore, which is endlessly frustrating for him and those of us who'd love to see him add to his tally. 4 majors, while exceptional for most people, is modest for a talent like that.
