Turned out he wasn’t fit enough. Finished early and did him more harm than good.

Mckirdy didn’t play more than 46 mins in a game at Swindon.

Featured 7 games and missed 8 games.

Of those 7 games - 5 of the games he played less than 36 mins.

Only x2 games 45/45 mins.

Been a long time since he’s played 90 mins.

There's going to be an element of easing him in after the break in playing, and his pre-season not being the intense overload it will be for the others.

I'd like to see him get a half of this game though. Hopefully that's not too much.

I think that’s really unfair - his heart condition obviously was a major issue and even him coming back last season to get minutes at Swindon was an achievement.

From a selfish Hibs fan / club money point of view though we can’t get away from the fact we have a recent history of players signing and not playing much..

That front three just does not sound as promising as it did 12 months ago. That line-up in a LJ team offered far more than what NM turned them into. Boyle has lost his form, Vente dropping deep removing his threat and Youan benched.

Have to hope SDG can get a tune out of them, there are a list of players there that could be like new signings if they can find the form we have seen :flag:

Gray has said he will get another chance so hope he gets up to speed with his fitness and gets incremental game time I always thought he showed potential but was too easily muscled off the ball but would be nice to see him make an impact even if it was primarily off the bench to begin with
But we have lost goal scorers and can’t afford passengers
So if he isn’t cutting it by scoring then he may have to go out on another loan at tail end of the window

Barely played anything and coming back from a heart disease. Gray said still a bit tight but days not weeks, so assume its just getting him up to speed takes a bit longer with his heart issues compared to the rest of the squad
