Another good Hibby taken at far too young an age. I always thought that was it not for the inevitable confidentiality clauses that would likely prohibit publication, Tam’s memoirs would have been one hell of a read given all that he lived through during his time at Easter Road. RIP Tam and sincere condolences to all of the family.

That’s very sad news. Whilst players and managers came and went he was an ever present. It was always good to see him enjoying banter with the players on match day , obviously a popular character. Watching him on the pitch with the League Cup afer we beat Kilmarnock is one of my abiding memories from a joyous day.
One of my most surreal moments as a Hibs fan was turning round to see Tam and several players a couple of holes behind as at the crazy golf at the Coylumbridge Hotel. We probably wouldn’t have noticed but for the laughter coming from the group. A Hibs fan living the dream. Every club needs someone like him around, someone not directly involved in management who can lighten the mood when required and provide an independent ear when needed.
RIP Tam.

RIP Tam.

A legend and ever-present throughout my time supporting Hibs until relatively recently.

Fair to say, I don’t think we’ll ever have a groundsman, kit man, cult hero multi tasker quite like him again.

Sad news about Tam's passing. He was a great servant to Hibs over the years.
I remember years ago being at a pal's Wake at ER. My pal's brother approached Tam and asked if there was any chance of us getting down to the pitch. Tam took us on a mini tour of the changing rooms before taking us onto the track, where we sang Glory Glory to the Hi-bees in memory of my pal. It was much appreciated.
Condolences to Tam's family and friends.

Absolutely gutted. I used to travel to away games with him and Joyce while Tam still worked at Wardie. They are both total salt of the earth kinda people and would do anything for you. Gave so much to Hibs and such a shame they were forced out of the club. When the cow shed git demolished Tam got me my section of the bench seat and had it signed by the team for me. Still have it to this day and think of him every time I look at it. RIP Tam....he was one of the real ones.

Very sad news, indeed and my thoughts are obviously with Tam's wife and family at this terrible time. I first met Tam when he worked for the district council. When he maintained the grounds at Wardie playing fields, it was there that he got to know Alex Miller and eventually work for Hibs. The use of the word "work" is not adequate, he was one of those souls who gave everything to the club, everything. It is people like Tam who made and make Hibs, they take it into the heart and give themselves and by doing so, make it special and make themselves part of the very fabric of the club. It is a cliche, but like all cliches, they contain a universal truth, Tam was, "the salt of the earth".

Used to play at Wardie playing fields when Tam was there with Hibs.

I always remember he used to set up a set of 7 aside goals and put them in front of the full size goals. He said if you can get the ball into the net either side of the smaller goals, no matter what the keeper does you'll likely score.

I think I took about 20 penalties whilst playing and only ever missed one.

A good guy.

Awful news. A comforting integral part of the club throughout all those years as we went through the usual turmoil and a bit success.

I remember up in a freezing McDemott Park a few years ago, when literally everyone heading to the turnstiles had multiple layers, hats and gloves on to stave off the cold - and there was Tam walking through us all going the other way, saying hello, big smile on his face - in just a t-shirt and trackers.!!!

Really sad to learn this. My own late Dad was the carpet cleaner at Easter Road for many years, including pre HTC days. Tam and his wife Joyce were always happy to take me in down at the kitroom, meet all the players and look after me while my dad worked away. A real Hibs family and I’m sure hundreds across the extended Hibs family are feeling this loss tonight. RIP Tam.

Another taken far too young. A very familiar face to hibs fans of my generation, firstly remembered as a groundsman then the kit man.

Watching the dedications at the end of last season and hearing this news really does put things into perspective for me. Maybe mellowed by age, heading toward 50, but those of us here are really blessed to be able to look forward another Hibs campaign and although I’ll have a moan at the games like most i just appreciate the time spent with my Hibs family.

Sincere condolences to all Tam’s friends and family. RIP
