I don’t doubt he would, he’s got all the attributes to be an excellent manager.

If he's given the time. We can't keep sacking managers & coaches willy nilly every 6-12 months. SDG has been with us long enough to know what is required from the get go.

No need to subscribe to the Hibs Observer when the record lifts so much for that article.

I do subscribe btw because I think it's a cracking site.

I hope they got paid for the Record lifting their piece to use as their own.

Yep pretty shameless no surprise from them. Guy probably did it from a bier Keller in Munich

I subscribe too, but used DR as I thought a few on here wouldn't be able to get the story - and it is a good read!

I’m actually so much more excited by his appointment now after reading this. I really hope he can build something special.

I wish him all the luck 🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬👌

Only a 2.5 hour interview. Lee Johnson’s ashamed of you SDG, did you not learn anything from him 😂

That was a great read the famous Hibee optimism is bubbling again inside me.
Just need a reasonable clear out, some quality signings and a new strip and we’re sorted.

There’s a lot in there that answers a lot of the questions on why it took so long, was it always going to be Gray and was anyone else spoken to. Seems like a pretty thorough process.

Any interview Gray has done since stepping in as manager as been fairly good .

Not totally surprised he's nailed his interview for head coach either as his knowledge of the club would have given him a strong advantage over other candidates.

He's been a leader on the park and I think he will off it too .

Probably the biggest rebuild we have had to do since Stubbs appointment .

Really need to give him some time now to sort things out now .

Not to pee on anyones parade but Ive known quite a few people that have been good at interviews but absolutely mince at the job they are supposed to be doing. You can practice and practice for interviews but when you lack the background and experience you will eventually be found out. But thats normally tooo late for the real qualified candidates applying for the position.

I absolutely know where you're coming from, I've had same experiences, but I think there's a difference here. Gray is coming as an internal candidate, he can say "this is happening and here's how we change that" instead of speaking in hypothetical "I'll bring my philosophy and it will transform the team". I'm sure they also said they reviewed his training sessions when they were making the decision on him. Sounds like he actually had more to prove than other candidates might have.

and out of interest did Malky say if anyone else was actually formally interviewed as opposed to ‘spoken to’ ?

Not surprised DG would interview well and I think he will sound intelligent in interviews throughout the season.

One sign that things weren’t going well for NM was that he became very repetitive and robotic. To be honest I never found Stubbs a convincing talker, and we all know about LJ.

Dare I say it a measured/ factual/ down to earth/ honest / non-PR-team manufactured approach to interviews is probably best. Although I find Naismith loathsome he interviews quite well and without giving off the whiff of bull****.

No real matter how fans react but I assume players must be unconvinced when manager is uninspiring for the camera.

It read to me that five made the formal last stage and that prior to that he had lunch with several other candidates before cutting those down to the five.

Doesn't matter. His recruitment, selections, tactics, adaptability, and at the end of the day results, are what matters. Pretty sure Ross, Nilonly, Johnson and Montgomerie will all have interviewed well otherwise they would not have been appointed. Interviews are performances on a stage that often bears little relation to the working environment or working practices. I have found to my cost in the past that the best interviewee does not always make the best or even a good employee.
But I am on his side.
