Looking back it was probably pretty dingy but when I visited it on family trips from Ireland it was like Aladdin’s cave for me.
No Hibs merchandise was ( still the case) available in Belfast and it was great to pick up some things.
Obviously the advent of online shopping has solved the supply issues but not the magic of those visits back then.
Think lady in the shop was called Agnes and she got to know us calling in probably didn’t have too many Irish shoppers.

It was minuscule, but like you 6/7/8 year old me found it to be a treasure trove.
The new shop was class when they did it up.
I remember a hibs shop on Easter road once that also sold tickets. Late 80s and think I even got 1993 cup final tickets there.
And before that there was on on one of the streets running from Easter road to leith walk.

Think the one on Easter Road was there until the shop opened in the FF Stand when that was built

O got my picture taken with George Best outside the old shop. Autographed my programme as well. I'm sure it was Cecil Graham, who was the club secretary as well, that ran it.

If I remember correctly Alan Hart (Tom's son) used to be the shops manager at the time.

Memory is a bit hazy but I'm sure it was called Hibernian Development, anyway I clearly remember being in there and buying the 100 years of Hibs book there when it came out (1975)if you wanted a Hibs top you had to go to Thomson's or McKenzie sports, changed days!

Yeah he actually supported our amateur football team Capital Wanderers and provided us with hundreds of those football cards to enable us to raise funds, he also bought us our first set of strips

I remember my mum taking me there when I was wee. It was almost opposite where the Royal Nip used to be. I got some little plastic Hibs figures - not sure if Gilzean was involved - but think it was Stanton, Blackley and Gordon. Great memories.

Thomson's was managed by John Paterson, Craig's Dad and a title winning Hibee himself. Lovely guy.

Ha, I remember getting a festive Hibs player. You shook it's glass case and it created a snow effect (struggling to explain this "accessory").

I think your right can remember it was murder when getting tickets there.

Remember buying tickets there a few times - pretty sure it was a post office beforehand.

Bought my first Hibs scarf in there. Pure nylon wool. Best avoid any naked flames wearing that! Also bought one of those wee Hibs patches with the V sign on it. The things you still remember after 50 years….

Was in there and there was a life size cardboard cutout of Franck Sauzee, my mother in law said “that’s Franck Sauzee” and next a voice said” yes it is me” . Franck appeared and spoke to us, brilliant 😀

I used to go to the big sports shop (well it seemed big at the time, probably only a double shop front) in Junction Street, when helping my Granny with her shopping on a Saturday, to look at all the Hibs strips, badges, bags etc. That was in the days when kids were just excited to go and look at the merchandise. You knew you were not getting anything, unless it was your birthday. I can’t remember the name of it. It was on the left hand side as you head towards the bottom of the walk, from Vicky Baths. Between Henderson St and the Kirkgate.
That wasn’t yesterday mind…

Was it not Thompson's who then moved to Leith Walk?

I bought a nylon scarf too, in 1973, white with green writing, Hibs F C. One other thing I remember buying was a comb in a green plastic case with Hibernian F C on it. No need for a comb now.

Thomson's had both shops operating for a long while. Their last shop was in Dalkeith until they went out of business.

I remember the torture of trying to decide if i should spend my pocket money on a Starsky &Hutch badge or a new Hibs patch for my scarf in Thomsons !

The one by the brick entrance? I recall coming through to buy my Bukta top there and passing Eddie Turnbull on the way in.
