I see that Premier sports are now going to show an extra 20 games from the Premiership which will no doubt benefit the club, but how many subscriptions to different channels do wee need these days.

20 games which I imagine will all be Celtic/Rangers games unless Sky don't pick up the odd Edinburgh derby or something.

These amazon sticks pay for themselves. Sky will probably get first dibs and prem sports get to choose from the rest.

Happy with this, something a bit different from boring Sky all the time.

That's exactly how it will work.

I heard an interview with Donkeycaster a few weeks ago about the new TV deal. He said that Sky would get first choice and then whoever won this tender (that Premier have won) would get to choose after that. Reading between the lines from what he said, I think he/the SPFL were annoyed at games like the Edinburgh Derby not getting picked up by Sky and that this would allow them to be televised.

Sky have to show at least 42 games from 60 which is more than they picked up this year. They’ll make sure they get as many of the Celtic/Rangers games they can so that Premier can’t. This does mean that assuming we end up top 6 we’ll likely have 7 home games televised each season - much higher number than this season

Quite a few of the better games have had good kick off times last couple of seasons. This’ll, no doubt, mean more midday on a Sunday and pish like that.

Yeap. Bad news for those who travel to games, it's going to get even more awkward.

Will clubs still be able to sell up to 5 games pay per view ? If so , does that mean potenitally around 10-12 home games a season on TV ?

Amazed that Setanta Sports II have agreed to this knowing that Sky will more than likely hoover up all the OF ones. Isn't showing only Celtic and Rangers like their whole thing?

They'll be paying a relative pittance for the rights. I'm ot sure I'd use the term agree to it either, it was put out to tender with knowledge of what was on offer.

If they are getting the 2nd choice of games behind sky they'll have priced that in.

They might put some of the OF home games on

The good thing about our games on Premier Sport is I’ll have top notch HD feeds on my Firestick.

They already cover the cups games so really it’s this and sky for Scottish football

I’m not sure what the rules are surrounding the number of times a club can be shown on TV at home, even if spread across different broadcasters.

Even if they did start to show Old Firm home matches, I wonder what the reaction of their fans would be if they had to move KO times for their home matches, with the luxury of previously guaranteed Sat 3pm home games suddenly disappearing?

Like all TV deals - great for the armchair fan, not so good for the match going fan.

Given how little interest there was in Hibs last year from broadcasters, it may not affect us too much if it’s Old Firm away on Sky and Old Firm at home on Premier Sport.

Premier won’t have any games from Ibrox or Celtic Park in the league - it will be 2 from every other ground. Would imagine we’ll be on Premier a decent amount

How much is the deal worth? I haven’t read that anywhere.

How many of our home games were on the telly last season? It most definitely wasn't the five it's supposed to be. This deal is only for 20 more games across the season so doubt it makes much difference to us. They'll probably show the 4 derbies and the 4 Dundee derbies so that's 8 games straight away and would cover our 2 home games.

I might be wrong but I thinkSky only showed us twice last season

Let me think, what game would a neutral rather watch St. Johnstone v Celtic or Aberdeen v Hearts. I think many are getting bored with the Old Firm live on TV no matter who they are playing, so this should be seen as a positive.

Re Premier Sports, yes frustrating to have to pay more. But if they have Scotland games, plus Hibs games in the League Cup and Premier League then I maybe subscribe for a few months.

It's just a rewind to the Sky/BT days, Celtic and Rangers can't be shown at home, so this additional 20 games is two broadcasts from all other ten clubs.

With Sky also being able to show 5 instead of four games from each venue next season, I suspect two Edinburgh derbies will be back on Sky and the others on Premier Sport, would imagine that'll be the same with the Dundee derbies too, a couple on Sky, a couple on Premier Sport, would also think Aberdeen games against us and Hearts will likely be picked up and the 3 or 4 New Firm games as well.

Honestly if Sky keep showing just OF away games and Premier get the rest I might actually subscribe.

New Scottish Cup deal was announced earlier as well and Premier have 3 games in the 2 rounds before the quarters now (up from 2) so that’s another minimum of 2 non OF games they’ll be showing. Will be interesting to see how many league cup games they show, think they might end up showing a decent number of non OF knockout games to attract subscribers
