Ok I understand excatly why there is a lot of negativity on this forum at the moment, but I'd just like to inject a bit of a positive on where we are and where we could be headed.

Owners and CEO - I think just about everyone agrees that our Owners The Gordon Family and our CEO have done a pretty good job, on the commercial side of things and have not done a great job on the Football side of things. The good news is that they have identified that themselves and have put a very experienced man in charge of the football side of things who has a great knowledge of Scottish Football. They have also brought in the Black Knights Group/Foley who adds more cash and a lot more knoweldge on the sporting side of the business.

Manager and Coaching staff: We don't know who the Head coach will be yet, but it won't be Montgomery, and I think most would agree that's a good thing. Monty was really poor, considering his previous track record and had so many chances to win matches that would have secured us a top 6 spot and thereby secured his job. Even with a influx of new players, he couldn't get it over the line and I am confident that whoever his succesor is, will do better. Even with the squad we have, Top 6 should be easily achievable and the squad will definitely be strengthened. The next manager is in a pretty no lose situation, all he HAS to do to keep his job is get top 6 and at least get his team fired up for all the derby matches and he will be in a job next season, with a chance to build on that. I suspect we have every chance of getting 5th or 4th if he hits the ground running. When you look at the points we dropped beacuse of late goals with the current squad, we really should have come 5th this year at a canter.

Players: We certianly do need to move some on and bring some in, but there will be money for that and there are players leaving. I'm confident if we add some combatitiveness in the centre of defence, the centre of midfield, the centre forward position and bring in a new solid goalie, we will have a top 6 team easy.

Conclusion: The Gordons and Kensall will be concentrating on the commercial side of things and we have new staff in charge of the football side - things will change, and considering how much we have been under performing I beleive that will be change for the better. We might not like it, but as a club we will be reasonably content with a top 6 finish next year, particularly if we are still in touching distance of a European place at the split and we have a decent run in the cups. Deliver that (and it's far from a huge ask given the resources we have) then the new manager will buy himself another season and another summer window to get rid of more dead wood and bring in more of his own players, giving us a platform to really challenge for 3rd the following year.

Good to see some positivity, feel like I've done nothing but moan about Hibs for months now and I'm generally considered to be a "happy clapper".

More of this, please!

Some fair points.

I often think there's a strength and that credit is due when some sort of acknowledgment is made that we're in a mess - and that things generally get better from there.

Malky Mackay is imo competent and shrewd. Kensell and co are not without their strengths - such as bringing money into the club.

Your players section though is hardly a ringing endorsement ie if we do major surgery to the entire spine of the team then we should be up to making top 6. I don't disagree but it's a pretty low bar.

My expectations for next season are fairly modest but as long as we appear to be heading back in the right direction again then I'll be pretty happy.

We are where we are - and we're probably only a decent showing in a weak league cup group away from feeling rather chipper again.

FFS, even our happy clappers are underperforming.

It's because I was trying to happy clap my way out from the back, when I should have just went long with it.

Hopefully with a new guy in charge I'll happy clap to my strengths again.

You need an experienced clapper leading you, someone with experience of the Scottish league who will clap right into them with a bit of no nonsense applause. :greengrin

Agree but I think we also need someone who can clap the "Hibs Way"

Nice to see some positivity and it’s a pretty rational take on things. Scottish football, disregarding the OF and McInness era Aberdeen, sees clubs yo-yo massively, someone’s without any great logic as to why.

This season Hearts were pretty consistent but there’s no guarantee they don’t have a shocker next season. Kilmarnock and St Mirren were decent yet it wouldn’t surprise me if one or even two teams years top 6 are next years religion candidates.

We had a shocker of a season yet missed top 6 by a fraction, and if we had made that European football was within reach by a win or two.

We don’t have to be perfect to have a decent season. Improve by a very achievable amount will have us competing for 4th or even 3rd.

When there is something to clap about I’m happy to clap

We’re still very much needing fixed and it’s a big job for the next manager

Here’s hoping. Unfortunately I was thinking more along the lines of Dundee and St Mirren. McInnes will keep Kilmarnock steady.
