As you may know, the Edinburgh Marathon is only a couple of weekends away. No doubt a few of you are even taking part.
What you may not know is that one slightly bonkers Hibs fan will be attempting to break the world record for a marathon in a full football kit.
My good pal James McLellan will be attempting to run the 26.2 miles in under 3hrs 28mins
He’ll be in the full Hibernian strip, shinners, and worst of all – an old pair of Adidas mouldies :bitchy:
Whilst also carrying a full-size football!
James and his sister Mhairi are running in memory of their late mum, Marilyn, and they are raising money for the charity Scottish Families Affected by Alcohol & Drugs
There are many worthy causes, but I’m sure every Hibs family has been touched by the demon drink in one way or another.
Please donate using the link below if you can
After a dismal season, let’s get some positive vibes flowing and send our support! :not worth

To help you sell this better, the world record he is trying to break is the fastest marathon dressed in any football kit right? That is a more impressive record than a Hibs kit-only one

Are football boots with studs a specific requirement of the record? The reason I ask is that the Guinness page about the current record doesn't say anything about that. Running a sub-3:30 marathon is a great achievement in itself, but it's not uncommon and there will be multiple folk on here who could manage that sort of time.
Running it with mouldies on is something else entirely, my feet hurt just thinking about it.

Yes, running with the ball and studded boots is a requirement for the record. Which, as you say, makes it a different kettle of fish entirely.

I hope a linesman checks his studs before he starts or don’t they do that anymore?

Thought this was about the number of managers we could get through in a decade.

An update from the weekend...
James smashed the marathon in a time of 3 hours 23 minutes - beating the previous record by just under 5 minutes. A cracking effort.
So the Guinness world record for the fastest marathon time in a full football kit (and boots) whilst carrying a football belongs to the Hibs family, for now at least :aok:

If anyone wants to donate the link is still active, please see opening post for details.
Thanks very much to anyone who has contributed.

Passed him on the hill coming up to Piershill. I was struggling in my Vaporflys after 35km, can’t even begin to imagine the pain of doing that in studs.

Amazing effort. I can’t imagine how his feet must have been feeling by the end. 26.2 miles in wet trainers sucks. 26.2 miles in wet football boots is a nightmarish thought. He must have been Skiing down the mound.

Brilliant effort it bad enough playing football in football boots let alone running on a hard surface for 26 miles. Heard you ran past a guy in a Rangers top who went to ground as you breezed past him.😁

He flew past me when I was taking photos on Porty prom, ball in hand. He got a C'mon the Hibees from me and another boy just down from me. Amazing effort
