View Full Version : Summer Investment Expectations

After hearing NMs comments on the radio this morning he was asked about his chances of being in charge next season.
His response intrigued me, basically saying that as far as he was concerned nothing had changed from when he came in. Do what you can this year with the promise of investment in the summer. I think like many he needs to go but I was curious about what sort of level of investment to expect for the window. Dread the thought of him spending £5million+ on his choice of players.

I doubt he, or whoever replaces him, will have a massive input into the summer signings. I think we maybe signed one guy that looks to have been his idea, Triantis, but the rest all looked like BK picks.

So I’d guess the same for the summer, the vast majority, and certainly the expensive ones, will come via the BKs.

They can't give a manager that thinks Triantis is the answer any money to spend. Be as well pissing it down the drain.

Excuse my ignorance here but has it ever came from the horses mouth from anyone at Hibs or BKG that there will be multiple millions spent on the squad/in the transfer market?

I feel that the £6million paid for the % ownership of the club was muddied a bit by the media in that that is the figure that is going to be available to be spent. I am sure I read an article which also suggested that the money would be spent on infrastructure only.

We’ll spend it on absolute guff as per, like the god knows how much that was *****ed on development squad garbage and the rest of the fees we have wasted

We don't want to become a loan factory though. A line of players that the manager (whoever it is) may or may not have chosen himself. Players that won't have made that decision to sign for Hibs and engross themselves within the club for a year or two. Always potentially 6 months away from their next move.

Investment isn’t the issue with this squad. It was under Petrie pre Dempster, but just now millions has been pumped into this squad.

The problem is decision makers at the top of the club and if they remain the same, we are royally ****ed.

I'm not sure how much we will have to spend and like others have said I suspect the higher quality signings will come via the BKs, maybe as loans.
What I am clear about is that whoever was responsible for signing Levitt and Wollacott should be nowhere near the process.

This is it for me.

Keep NM in charge of yours writing off any investment we get in the summer

The money we will spend on contract terminations will probably be more than what we spend on transfers

Even if we spend 6 million it’s a drop in the ocean in footballing terms and who would want Montgomery spending that amount when he brings in players like Triantis, Emiliano,

It's not what you spend, it's how you spend it. So far we have spent what for this club is a fortune on a whole pile of failures. Not least of which has been Levitt, pound for pound possibly the biggest waste of money in this club's history.

If we are going to spend money ... serious money ... find us a Latapy, find us a Sau2ee ..... FFS find us a McGinn.

Find us some players with a set o' baws, the team spirit the lads of 2016 had, a captain to lead them on the pitch and a manager to motivate them off it.

Is It On....

Please can we have a new
1) Director of Football
2) Head of Player Recruitment
3) First team manager (decided by the above)

McKirdy has that honour.
Bigger transfer fee, similar wages, has done absolutely zilch in 2 seasons, is worth zero and can't be moved on without great expense because his wage far exceeds his ability.

I'm presuming Maolida was a rabbit pulled out the hat by McDermott and what a rabbit it was. I'm also presuming Amos was another McDermott find. Mayenda was probably a BOGOF with Triantes To summerise BK: sold/gave us a young player that they didn't want who is doing okay agreed to loan us a broken guy and a guy who had just returned from long term broken who they had no intention of giving a new contract to because he is very much style over substance. This summer they will loan us young centre half Bevan and probably one more who will hopefully be a pleasant surprise.

Now’s the time to be a football agent with a contact at Hibs, some shan players - a couple of 3 minute videos and some stats that look okay.

Could make a small fortune this summer.

You could give him £250m and we'd still be bottom 6

Pretty much this, a successful football team isn't solely about spending money on good players. Manager needs at least two or three suitable set ups and tactical systems in place for the players to play to their strengths during games. Basic football management seems lacking, which then leads to brutal results like what we've had recently, which then leads to shot confidence, then you're on the slippery slope of being unable to buy a goal, never mind a win. The manager has shown nothing with this group of players. This group, for all it's failings and weaknesses, should be nowhere near the bottom 6 after 33 games.

75% of those voted expect us to spend at least £1million this window

So far we are on £0 with 4 in the door on loan or free transfer.

If they can’t beat Kelty Hearts then they will be lucky not to be relegated.

We are not at zero. Those players have signing on fees and wages to cover.

Countered by getting rid of some of the highest paid players at the club at the end of the season. And presumably paying the Gray less than NM was earning.

Well, considering none of us have a clue what anyone at Hibs in earning really, that is only speculation. I'd imagine our wage bill is down slightly, but no, signing on fees have not been countered by players leaving I don't think. We haven't done anywhere near enough so far, but we have clearly spent more than 0.

We won’t be relegated but definitely have a bottom six squad.

Any suggestion we challenge for 3rd is beyond mental.

After a fantastic start, why oh why do you change things around?I went for £1 million, as I don't think they will want to spend too much with an upcoming manager. If he does not work out in the short term, they have money to spend around Winter transfer.Common sense may be in short supply, but, if we get a good start to the season then great, if its the opposite then I can see another grim season ahead!!!

Killie, St Mirren, Motherwell & Dundee all have astute managers able to get the best out of resources less than ours. Aberdeen an unknown quantity. Us, as per usual - a squad rebuild, new inexperienced manager and destined to produce results below what we should.

All in your opinion of course, if you can see the future can you share the euro millions numbers for next week. Thank you.

Predicting Hibs will let you down, and fail to deliver on all their talk, is like predicting night following day.
