Absolutely pathetic
There have been too many pitiful home performances and results in recent seasons to put them in any sort of order of ineptitude. Most clubs these days will come to ER thinking they've a good chance of three points against such soft touches as Hibs. There is zero fear factor despite the fact we're supposedly one of the league's bigger clubs.

The mental thing is that we've seen us heading towards this point all season. We reached similar shambolic levels against St Mirren in January, only to then have the team bolstered with new signings which improved things for a short period, however, Monty's worked his magic and has managed to take this group down to that level as well. I'm just glad he's only got a couple of days to influence things ahead of Motherwell coming on Wednesday.

He’s probably only got a few training sessions left.
Tomorrow recovery…
Tuesday - light
Wednesday game
Thursday - recovery
Friday - training
Sat - light
Sunday - game
Basically won’t be much change to the way we play as limited time to work on anything.

To add insult to injury our manager states ER is a hard place to play when the crowd has turned.
Hes a broken record - time (I say with some regret) to go.

I know it's a bit of a standing joke on here and it certainly got an airing on the match day thread. But even at the game all the people around me were joking 'we've started pretty well here, what time will Aberdeen score?'
Make no mistake for 30 minutes Aberdeen were shocking. Almost comically bad; every touch was poor, every pass misplaced, every clearance rushed etc etc. we were doing Ok, not brilliant but controlling possession and getting into good areas. Then our twin weaknesses combined: poor decision making in the final 3rd and an inability to keep the ball out our own net. The 1st goal is a very good strike but it's preventable. The guy could have nicked away for a fag and a pint then sauntered back and still picked his spot such was the time we gave him.
From then on it was pathetic. A poor Aberdeen side suddenly looked like 2010 Barcelona. We gave up. I'll rarely accuse players of not trying because I think that's a serious thing to level at a pro and people often conflate lack of ability with lack of effort but yesterday we stopped trying. It's happened too often this season, and beyond, a squad who don't want to dig in when the going gets tough. They might not like the manager but where is their professional pride? A fair number of them should be throughly ashamed of themselves. It was a disgrace.

Said on another thread that In his interview yesterday he said the first goal isn't something that can be worked on the training pitch. So don't expect any work on defensive shape/ putting pressure on your opponent in and around your box.

They said on Sportscene Clarkson had time and space to pick his spot top right or bottom left
As you say try closing the man down asap or throwing bodies in the way

It was one of the most embarrassing results in the last 30 years. You can get skepled by the old firm occasionally but Aberdeen, at home? Come on, do me a favour. He should have been sacked immediately after the game.
If you look at some of the other performances under him including the likes of St Mirren at home that could easily have been a cricket score. The game at Forfar which was also abysmal then it's not a small blip. I said last week that this guy is arguably worse than Butcher. I now think he is.

Boy sitting next to me at the game yesterday said ( I don’t believe it’s true but he was adamant it was) that hibs gave certain players 4 days off from training last week and the reason he knows this is he follows them on instagram.
If this is true then no wonder we are not improving and seem to be going backwards.

Malmo had some top players, including a load of internationalists, Forsmark (sp?) who scored ended up with almost 100 sweden caps and scored 50 goals for RB Leipzig from midfield, including in the champions league. I dont think most of us realised how good they actually were at the time.

I don’t have social media but I was told Marcondes looked like he was abroad at one point last week on social media. Not sure if someone could confirm that, but if true it would suggest the guy might not be wrong. As I said though, that’s an if.

Yet Malmo lost the first leg 0-4 away to Swansea in the next round losing 0-4 on aggregate
Shows how bad that Hibs team truly was

Not really, Swansea were an excellent side then, punching above their weight with £15 million players. Kind of like talking about Bournemouth or Brighton these days. Both Malmo and Swansea were on a different level to Hibs financially.

Fair enough, so how many other teams on our financial level have Malmo gone to and won 7-0, probably none.

Well I just had a quick look at Malmo European record, Hibs is by far and away their highest away win, their second highest away win was 4-0 against European giants Ballymena United.

No mugs, but not on such different planet that they should have won 9-0 on aggregate. There was optimistic talk about us turning the tie around at ER, which I didn't buy into as you could see from the away leg they were the stronger team, but losing 7-0 at home was unforgivable and Fenlon should have gone then rather than a few weeks later. I thought it was a far more embarrassing result than the 2012 cup final.
I was at the away game but was up north with work for the home game and recall having to check the final score via Ceefax (mustn't have been a phone signal available). I was utterly stupefied and initially thought it was a mistake.

The Malmo result also has to take into consideration the way the game went with injuries. We ended up with a number of not very good teenagers playing.
They were a good team that also had a night where it all went right for them.

I paid £10 for the Hibs TV single camera coverage of the game. Which I didn’t get. Still waiting for a refund.
