I see BKG’s Lorient avoided relegation this evening by the skin of their teeth.

They are 3 points and 7 goals behind Metz, however Lorient are at home to bottom side Clemont next week whilst Metz go away to champions PSG.

Doubt it has any bearing on us whether they stay up or not but certainly not a great first 18 months for their investment.

i think it's the bottom two that go down

they may well beat bottom side Clermont and Metz will probably get beat by PSG but even if they go level on points with Metz there's a -6 goal swing needed, Metz are 3 points clear and sitting in the relegation play-off spot

and Metz are at home to PSG

Where were lorient when they took over out of interest?

I’m not being smart I genuinely don’t know

It is, Clermont and Lorient as it stands. If Lorient get the 7 goal swing next week then they will be in a play off to stay up.

Not sure if I'm being daft but are they not pretty much staring relegation in the face still?

As mentioned in the post they need a 7 goal swing, avoided it being confirmed this evening due to Metz chucking a 1-0 lead.

I've got you now mate :aok:

I don't really know much about Lorient so not sure if they're a yo-yo team in general but its not a great look.

Sounds like they would be ideal pre season friendly opposition.

They are a yoyo team, the French league also went from 20 to 18 teams this season

Some turn around by Lorient today. Started the day 3 points and 7 goals behind Metz in the playoffs position. Lorient win 5-0 and Metz get beat 2-0, putting them above metz and saving them from automatic relegation!

Think they still have a relegation play off, I don’t know the format of that or who they play though.

Lorient have been relegated.

They matched Metz on goal difference (-23),
head-to-head points (3),
head-to-head goal difference (0),
head-to-head goals scored (4)
but had a worse head-to-head away goals scored (2 v 3)

Which is the 5th tie breaker category in Ligue 1.

Hopefully Hibs go up Foley's list of priorities with the relegation

Sounds like they would be ideal pre season friendly opposition.

I recall us playing them in a Friendly some years back when we went to France for a pre-season training camp.

It puts to bed a bit all the chat about what the Black Knights Group “won’t accept” when Lorient end up being relegated……

Apologies I thought they had survived (playoff) on goal difference, my bad!

Yeah, think it might also put to bed the idea that they'll run over the top of the majority shareholder as well.
