Starting with Alex McLeish in 1998, and including Monty who somehow remains in charge, there have been 12 Hibs managers who have managed 31 top flight league games. So not including seasons in the Championship, and those who oversaw fewer than 31 such games, Hibs managers who don't meet this criteria include Butcher, Stubbs, Heckingbottom & Maloney.

1) Neil Lennon: P31 W15 D10 L6 Pts 55 GD +12

Sorry mate, I'm not following.

How did you decide which 31 games to include and which to exclude?

I'm assuming it's their last 31 not including games out with the spl/spfl.

That's what I assume but who do you think had the best squad.

I had assumed it’s the first 31 games. Yogi’s stats seem a little too good for a manager to get the sack. Wikipedia has him as winning 19 from 54 so 5 wins from his final 23 game seems more like what I remember. There’s also no way Mcleish’s final 31 games were so poor.

I’m assuming Butcher never managed for 31 games

Pretty sure it's the first 31.

Was it Ebbe Skovdahl of wellies and Aberdeen that said :

'Statistics are like mini-skirts. They give you good ideas but hide the most important things.' (Ebbe Skovdahl)

Yes it was :)

Aye, doesn’t tell you anything about what they had to work with.

Pointless, it doesn't demonstrate anything of any significance except you can use made up stats for anything you like.

Made up stats? Is there such a thing?

Of course there is. Stats that are completely inaccurate are made up stats :greengrin

72.4% of stats are made up.
And the remaining 41.6% are lies.

Interesting but not as informative as you'd think. I presume it's the first 31 games for each of them we are looking at - and that makes it a bit skewed as some managers have come into teams already struggling. CoCo Calderwood is deservedly bottom of this pile, whereas you'd really expect Alex McLeish to be up at 3rd or 4th.
I think a more telling stat is win %age so I've added that in (for total time at Hibs). That puts Monty at 3rd bottom and begins to tell the real story over why fans are dissatisfied with him.
A successful Hibs manager needs to be turning in well over 40% wins to keep the support purring and Monty is a long way short of that. Yes we know he's had some *****y referee calls but near enough every Hibs manager could say that - and there have been quite a few miserable performances in there where we deserved nothing.
I desperately want every Hibs manager to succeed but am struggling to see any convincing argument for keeping Monty on. For me we have, if anything, gone backwards from Johnson - under whom when we were good we were very good, even if he didn't really look like the answer either due to terrible inconsistency.
One thing that stands out a mile for me from these stats is how desperately unfair it was to give Jack Ross the sack when we did - he actually boasts the best win %age out of the lot and deserved to lead the team out at the Cup Final he'd got us to for my money. Water under the bridge though. We are a tough lot to please!

to throw the cat amongst the pigeons I wonder what MacInnes record after 31 games at St Johnstone, Aberdeen and Killie was. I’m not advocating for him but suggest he would be more of a Jack Ross type - effective steady as she goes but the thing I recall of MacInnes from memory was the dismal record in crunch games against Celtic when they were one of the mainstay challengers.
