I think today finally put to bed any prospect of him being our number one next season or even number two. The guy looks totally hopeless with the ball at his feet. Looked like even his teammates were losing the rag with his passing.

File under failed transfers recently with the rest of them.

Always feel sorry for goalkeepers chucked in after not playing a minute for months.

Really struggled with the ball at his feet though

I don't have any issues with starting him.

We know what we have with Marshall and in the same vein we know what we probably won't have next season. Wollacott and Johnson are a bit more of an unknown quantity. I'd play him again next week to see if it was just ring rust today then start Johnson in the last 2. Let them both stake their claim to be here next year and challenge a new keeper for the gloves.

On today's showing Wollacott has a lot to prove.

It was such a bizzare signing to begin with, we let go a good young keeper and another waiting on his turn yet we bring him in? I'm not sure our recruitment guys know what they are doing.

We don’t seem to consider character enough when it comes to signing. I don’t often use the phrase “worst ever”, but Delferierre’s performance in the opening game of the season was genuinely the worst ever I’ve seen in a Hibs shirt (worse than Kujabi in 2012). We were sat right in front of him and literally any time he got the ball with an opposition player near him he seemed to panic and blooter it in any direction he was facing. Total panic set in.

Thought it might have been opening game of the season nerves but he fell apart like a cheap suit against Ross County when he came on too.

There’s just so little gumption and composure amongst a lot of our signings.

Simply just an awful goalkeeper for the standard that's required. New number 1 signed for next season is ANOTHER must.

It's not knee jerk either. The guy showed THROUGHOUT the game that he wasn't great with the ball at his feet at all.

Because we have a bunch of pseudo-intellectuals signing players based on meaningless statistics, at the expense of the qualities actually required in a player.

It's costing us a huge amount of money too.

Yet another masterstroke by our recruitment team.

Over the last 3 years the list must be over 40 duff signings who have been either shipped out, loaned out or still picking up a wage and we cannot move them on.

It really is disgraceful and all under the watch of Kensell & Ian Gordon.

Have to agree, even in his early appearances he looked ropey and he's never gotten better and today was easily his worst performance. I was absolutely gobsmacked at how woeful he looked every time the ball came near him. There is absolutely no way we can go into next season with him as one of our options.

Hope he gets more games to prove himself . Can`t remember much about his record before we signed him but thought he had played at quite a high level . He looked good in our pre season matches and was unlucky to get injured as soon as he got a chance . Will have been signed to compete with Marshall then become our number 1 this season . His contract doesn`t finish this summer so hopefully he`ll get a chance to impress so he can prove himself for next season or for other clubs to take an interest .

He was very poor today but I think people do underestimate how long it takes a keeper to get up to speed when they aren't playing regularly. It's not that different from an outfield player needing games to bed back in.

Look at someone line Bogdan. There were all kinds of alarm bells being sounded about him in his first few games then he had that game away in Greece and it all just clicked for him. At a far lower level but speaking personally I remember sitting out the game for a few months in my late teens after being released from a pro club and totally falling out of love with football. I was cajoled into going back to a then East of Scotland side and I was ****ing awful for a few weeks. I was rusty, confidence was shot and I was a nervous wreck every time I went on the park. It took a lot of faith from other people to stick it out for those few weeks until it all sort of fell back into place.

I don't think he's the answer as a number 1 next year but I think we are as well letting him see out this season now and see if he shows anything at all. We aren't going to learn anything new about Marshall now.

Sensible and accurate post. Im hoping the majority of those at the last few games see it from your point of view and cut him a break.

Just back from todays game. Evident that Wollacott is not a competent keeper. Not in his handling or with his feet.
Particularly gauling when there was a better quality keeper up the other end, that we let go.

He had a thigh issue earlier this season but I think he is fit as he has been on the first team bench for every game since the start of February. During that time he also played the full 90 minutes at Pittodrie where he conceded two goals. He also played 45 minutes against Livi and didn’t concede.

I’ve seen him in friendlies ,development games, I’ve actually watched him in a closed doors game on a morning, at no point did I think he would be our number one.
He obviously isn’t very good, as he would be playing regularly in front of a very average, keeper in marshal.
If you think he’s good ,based on your knowledge, then great.

For me any goalkeeper in this day and age of coaching, they should all be able to master controlling the ball and kicking under no pressure - it’s utterly basic footballing skills no matter what position you play - it’s baffling that not only today, but across leagues, keepers cannot play basic football - that’s a failure in coaching across the board. When I played our coach made our keeper play centre half so they could both play and get the feel of outfield play but also master the ball with feet.

Agreed.

Makes me wonder what our goalkeeping coach has done with him, if anything, given he presumably sees him in training every day, and JoJo’s shortcomings with his feet would be presumably blatantly obvious.

His footwork was almost unbelievably bad for a professional goalie these days, but surely working with him for 9 months it could have and most certainly should have been improved?

On that performance, Jo Jo shouldn’t have much of a future at Easter Road, although he’s probably another one on a decent length contract.

Not surprising considering how little he has played. Even Bogdan was poor when first playing. Should still play rest of matches. I have more faith in him making a big save than grandad Marshall tbh.

Wolacott might well be tatties, but he’s barely had a chance.

You need a run of games to get ‘match fit’ and he’s never had that here. The mistakes obviously don’t do him any favours.

If he’s getting dropped I’d hope it’s to give Johnson a go, as reverting to Marshall for the rest of the season is pointless in my opinion.

It's mad that a professional goalkeeper, born 4 years after the 'pass back' law was changed, can't play the ball out his box and find a teammate.

He's literally had his whole life to practise this FFS.

He's poor at crosses, unconvincing as a shot stopper and woeful at kicking.
