If I were a betting man (which I’m not), I fear we’re being relegated without a massive change of direction.

If you look at the Hearts and Dundee United squads that were relegated, they were both decent on paper but much weaker than the sum of their parts, bloated, expensively assembled, conveyer belt of managers with no attempt for continuity between styles, owners who to put it nicely don’t look as if they’re tuned into this league.

This “review” of the club can’t be a vanity project to pat the backs of certain people at the club. Extra money to invest means nothing if it’s invested badly. I’d love a player like Murray or White up front for us as their attitudes are great and that gets them goals. Alex Gogic would improve us.

Am I convinced that certain people can put their egos aside for this to be fully effective? I’m not sure. I hope I am wrong.

This summer is so, so pivotal. The manager may well be an issue, but our problems run far, far deeper and if our review isn’t us being brutally honest with ourselves then we’re circling the drain.

I think you’ve got a deeply uncomfortable but valid point.

As per usual, if we get the summer transfer business right then we should be fine but there are all sorts of alarm bells wailing for me.

Quality players, coached by a quality team of coaches.
Not rocket science.

If it’s that simple, then why do we keep getting that wrong?

We'll continue to be powder puff if Newell's in the team.

He creates virtually nothing , he takes no responsibility for driving forward, and he gives Barry the crab a very close run for his money.

He looks pretty, but he has the heart of a very, very small mouse. I do hope he's getting replaced.

Identify the best players from other teams that are realistically in our budget.

Players we all know are the best in their positions that’ll improve us.
Players that know this league and who’ll hit the ground running.

I’ll start the ball rolling……..Simon Murray!

He's here!

I'm just glad we had enough about us to beat St Johnstone last week and that County slipped up at Livi or relegation THIS season wouldn't have been out of the question!

I thought he was making a mistake leaving Queens Park for County but he looks outstanding these days.

I’ve been banging this drum for ages and been told that “not for a team aiming for third blah blah blah”.

We need to not think about third for just now and just focus on getting the squad right. Make us a hard working team who work together well and that will easily be enough for 4th or so. Then figure out on what the added X factor is to be top three.

Vente needs everything to be right for him and for it to be put on a plate for him to have a shot on target. Simon Murray makes things happen for himself. That’s the big difference.

You already know my answer to that one. He was our manager before.

That’s not an answer to the question (and given how Celtic capitulated in the year when Steven ****ing Gerrard managed to lead his team to the title I don’t share the confidence you do) - but even if it was: if your solution is so obvious, why don’t we pick up on that?

You are seriously comparing him to Barry Ferguson? Hun erse but fantastic player.

Vente has been a huge failure. An absolute waste of money. At least with Murray as you say he’ll at least try and make things happen and chase things down until he drops.

Agree about third place. Just forget it. Let’s try and build a team, a team that’s difficult to beat.

A very sideways hun never in any language "Fantastic" but we can agree that Newall is not the answer, whatever the question was/is.

I don’t think we’ve played a system that plays to Vente’s strengths. He was our marquee signing and our manager has elected to deploy him in a No9 role that he clearer isn’t equipped for.

I agree about Vente, if this is what Nisbets replacement is then It really isn't good enough. I've also been pretty disappointed in Boyle this season seems to be a yard off what he was but hard to be harsh when he's bailed us out in previous seasons.

I agree apart from the Review. We had one a year ago.

We recruited Brian who then recruited Nick.

Review, Review - They haven't got a clue!

We've been woeful this season and are miles clear of it. Cant see us going down. Few others on that path before us.

Its probably about as likely as finishing above Hearts, though.

Two managers? He's hardly banged them in for either LJ or Montgomery. I'm yet to see what his "strengths" actually are.

I thought Barry Ferguson was a fantastic player. He’s almost exactly the type of player we need the most.

In however many hundred games for Rangers I wonder how many times their fans had him posted missing? Consistently dictated games from the middle of the park for years, when the “water carrier” role was just starting to become fashionable.

It's really scary when you look at it, realistically the only players listed from today that should be in the first team lineup/squad would be

Cadden
Obita
MW
Newell
Boyle

There could even be question marks for Cadden, Newell and Boyle for a starting place for next season.

A major rebuild which I don't think we can afford if we are wanting instant first team players in a lot of positions.

He was. It was a poorly considered comparison.

I was just frustrated at Newell constantly passing sideways.

I wish he was as positive as that.

His pass back to the goalie yesterday which led to the 2nd goal sums him up

Traditionally a number 9 is a strong target man who has the ability to hold up the ball.Monty is playing a formation where that type of player should be playing in that position, Vente clearer isn’t. Either play 2 up top with Vente playing off that ‘traditional’ No9 or don’t play him at all. I actually think Myziane can play that role better then Vente, square pegs into round holes🤷🏼
