Been reading a fair bit on the West Ham and David Moyes situation and looks likely Moyes reign as manager is coming to a end with reports that they have already met with Ruben Amorim and Julen Lopetegui about becoming their next manager. ( Probably be other candidates as well).

I think maybe a big part of it's down to the way West Ham play under Moyes and the fans and Owners want a change of style much the same as Bournemouth did in fairness.

Though is it the right call with everything he's done there , currently sitting 9th and only 5 points of 6th spot with a win rate of 44. 74 % .

I remember him saying after a defeat to Forrest " Maybe some fans want a change or maybe they've had managers who excite them more possibly.... But the one who's sitting here wins more "

Seems there's tension at the club with the current situation and I suppose my questions are do you think they are doing the right thing in trying something different ? And are you the type of fan that would put results over the way the team plays or are both equally as important to you ?.

Nah he's done a great job there.

Stable in the league and a first trophy for over 40 years, and a European one to boot.

Mind you, they have the second highest crowds in England. Have to admit that shocked me. 62k every game. Fantastic. So maybe they are underachieving.

The fans want them to play a more expansive style of football but, it's not stopping them from turning up, I think they are in the top 3 for average crowd in the Prem and top 10 Europe wide.

Kudus and Paqueta (probably Bowen too) linked with moves away in the summer so, could be big changes to come.

I never really took to Moyes, either in terms of playing style or his personality. Im not sure why. I could be wrong, hes good pals with Pat Nevin which reflects well on him i think, Pat’s right on most things. He certainly seems to stick up for him a lot in the media.

I was surprised about the crowds they get , didn't realise how big a club they are .

Looking at Moyes record with him taking them over in 2019 in 17th place one point above relegation he's since had back to back top 7th place finishes the first time I think they've done that and with the great achievement of European success too .

I suppose it does maybe show that fans generally want to watch their team play a good style of football that is entertaining too.

Big gamble all the same though . I think if I was a hammers fan watching them every week I'd want a change as well tbh . The Ruben Amorim name is one I think Liverpool were looking at too and is one that must surely excite the hammers fans.

Interesting times ahead for the hammers no doubt .

Let's get him in :greengrin

Sure he gave an interview a few years ago saying he'd like a crack at the Hibs or Hearts job before he retires

The next guy they get won’t do as well as him. European football 3 years on the bounce with a quarter final and semi final in the Europa League and a win in the Conference League is some going for West Ham. Will probably be a few years before they’re back in Europe now.

I suspect they will regret the change of they make it. Bottom half of the table next year if he leaves.

I think that has a lot to do with the cost of their tickets. Especially in comparison with the big two London clubs Still impressive though.

Another club getting a bit carried away with itself. I remember their neighbours Charlton thinking that Alan Curbishley had taken them as far as he could and so they needed "an upgrade" and it didn't go so well for them.

That is not at all how Curbishley left Charlton. The club wanted him to sign a new long term deal. He decided not to.

I think you might be remembering that wrong. He said in a daily express article when asked about the Hibs and Hearts jobs, “Neither job would be of any interest to me, I wouldn’t say I wouldn’t move back to Scotland. Scotland is my love and Glasgow is where I’m from”.
He also said another time that he had no interest in working in Scotland because he’s the most experienced EPL manager there is (must have been after AF retired), this is the league I want to work in.

West Ham have that now, they may regret getting rid of him.

I stand corrected, I always had it in my head that Charlton decided not to keep him when his contract expired! However , I do think West Ham are getting above themselves regardless of their crowd numbers.

Very much agree. Moyes is good for West Ham. One of their best ever managers. Mental to let him go.

From the outside they should be building a statue of Moyes for winning a European trophy. They’re also regularly punching their weight and slightly higher in the league. Though as we saw with Ross success doesn’t automatically mean enjoyment.

West Ham fans often have ideas above their station imo.

But then again they’ve been gifted a highly subsidised stadium in a huge catchment area and maybe believe it’s only upwards from here.

Last time they thought they were better than Moyes they got themselves into a relegation battle.

Hibs and West Ham fans have a certain reputation for wishing to see our sides play in a certain manner, unfortunately it rarely materialises.

If he does loose his job (which would be madness) Everton should snap him up. They've been pretty much hopeless ever since he left them.

Moyes will be the next Scotland manager.

Just saw today's interview with Moyes on Sky.

What a dignified guy, which is astonishing given all the speculation around his job. Criticism from the majority of the West Ham support and the club allegedly interviewing prospective managers, Lopetegui being the most recent one mentioned today.

We have every right to criticise our current manager given the resources he has been provided for our league. Montgomery has failed miserably. Moyes on the other hand has over achieved and clearly has the experience and gravitas to move on to other clubs if West Ham punt him.

Imagine if Ian Gordon and Kensell knocked on Moyes door and asked him to come to Hibs. What a coup that would be. Highly unlikely though if Moyes looks at The Gordons and Kensell's past record.

However, if the Black Knights push Ian Gordon and Kensell to the side and approach Moyes with an ambitious and feasible plan stranger things have happened.

This is another case of “careful what you wish for”. I have a few Hammers mates and they are split on Moyes. But they all agree that he has done a fantastic job results wise. They could easily plummet down the table and be relegation strugglers if he is emptied. They are a pretty demanding crowd.
