Just after watching the highlights again and thought it deserved a mention , really was a fantastic free kick from Emiliano. The keeper really makes a great effort to save it but its just perfectly placed . Up there as one of our best free kick goals maybe? 🤔

Fantastic strike pity we have had so few free kick opportunities

It was utterly brilliant.
Agree one of best ever.
However he didn’t play well😔

I thought he made a lot happen yesterday, and I’m usually a bit critical of him. Ball control can let him down but his decision making was very good.

Played well second half when we were breaking

He had a better second half.
However first half everything was bouncing off him, he was at fault with st Johnsone’s one on one, trying some flick in midfield

Was fine second half but was surprised how poor he was first half, just kept losing the ball.

What a free-kick though! Could watch it all day.

Great goal, shades of Leigh Griffiths.

Great goal, shades of Leigh Griffiths.

I was just after watching Leigh's goal in trying to find what our best freekick goals are . Think Sam Stanton scored a cracker one time . Apart from that I'm not sure on the others , did Mallon not score one too?

Absolutely brilliant free kick - there’s not many in the league with that sort of quality.

But deary me, for a guy of his ability he needs to do so so much more. Some of his touches and passes are so poor from simply not being on his toes or being sharp enough.

When he first played he was flicking things round the corner and looked a real class above, it’s almost like he thinks he’s better than the opposition and he can take his time which he’s simply not getting.

He’s also not finding pockets of space that I was hoping he would for him to then be able to turn and get passes/shots away. Is this him not doing it or something Monty is saying?

Second half he improved and set up a couple of chances/got shots away.

I just think there’s so much more to come from him. He’s had a relatively easy time of it for his performances I think due to his name/where he’s came from. If he had signed from Ross County or similar there would be far more groans and criticism.

Riordan I think has by far the most in a Hibs shirt this century anyway. 7 or 8 scored.

Filthier than a Scott Allan pass

Just been watching it back to prepare for the podcast, it was much better than I remembered it from seeing it live. Further out than it looked from my seat, for a start, and the dip and curl he got on it was terrific. I am not sure you'll see many better free kicks this season (including ones already scored).

Reading the match thread, even after the goal there was a lot of focus on how badly he was playing. i found it peculiar.

I thought he was having a stinker after it, there were a few first touches that he hit almost as far as that free kick :greengrin

I did think he was better second half, though, and let's face it - we'd all* accept a few heavy touches for players that can fire in goals like that.

*ok, all is an exaggeration, but at least there'd be a health and not in any way tedious long running internet argument about the merits of someone who sometimes makes mistakes but is occasionally brilliant.

Here’s hoping :agree: to be honest, in my book if you score a free kick like that you could do what you like for the next 85 minutes, particularly if we get the 3 points regardless.

He played a pass through to Boyle using his back foot that was exquisite. Plenty of passes won't come off but at least he tries them and we need some players that will try them. The whole team can't be industrial.

Missed the first half of the game, had a look at the report on the BBC so had to check it out on sportscence rather than wait for a YouTube upload.

Fabulous strike indeed.

Mallon scored a cracker against that Icelandic side Runavic away. I remember it becuase the wind was really bad and he was shooting against it, at the time I thought..no way he will even hit the target, it will balloon over the bar against the wind, but it was very like Emeliano's except in the top right hand corner.. the goalie was no great chakes but it was unstoppable. Sauzee scored some belting 'drives' from free kicks.

Sam Stanton scored a nice one against Ross County but not as good as the one on saturday. Riordan and Griffiths obviously scored belters. I remember Ally McLeod scoring a left footed free kick against Dundee (I think) and the ref making him take it again.. he hit it with his other foot and popped it in the top corner.

I would say the opposite.

If we signed a midfielder from another Scottish club in the January window who had been out injured for months and he created as much as Emiliano has, not to mention scored a few himself, we would be excited as to what he could give us once he had a full pre season in his legs.

I reckon he would be sensational next season if we're lucky enough to have him here.

Did MacLeod take they free kicks with different feet my recollection and it clearly could be wrong was same foot different corner.

Im pretty sure he used his own feet Jim 🫣

I liked Ally, he was the main striker when I started going
