What could they possibly be missing to compete in league 2? Sfa basically choosing who they want and who they don't.

It could be as simple as not supplying the SFA with audited accounts on time.

Regardless. It's double standards.
"five clubs already in the SPFL – Airdrieonians, Cove Rangers, Edinburgh City, Kelty Hearts and Peterhead – don’t yet have a bronze licence."

From the SFA's statement:-
“Every club was made aware in summer last year of the need to have a Scottish FA Bronze Licence to participate in the SPFL. Regrettably, Buckie Thistle failed to respond to any of the three subsequent follow-up letters sent in October, February and March.
“They are not compliant with SPFL Rules and failed to apply for a period of grace by the 31 March 2024 deadline. The SPFL Board has huge sympathy for Buckie and their fans, but has no option but to enforce our Rules.”
Ignoring the SFA would seem to be the issue.
Presumably, the other clubs applied for the "period of grace" to comply. Bear in mind that the new rules were only introduced in the summer, which might have been quite difficult for those clubs.

Wouldn’t surprise me if Buckie haven’t replied because they want to stay in the highland league.
Would be a massive expense to jump up to the second division for Buckie.

Yep I don't think going up is all that great a prize
For HFL teams iam sure Brora effectively threw a play off undefeated for about 40odd games before it...

This sounds like a total farce if what the club are stating is true. Will be interesting to see the response. Sounds like a major cock-up.

Someone's telling porkies here, and I suspect it's not all on the SPFL/SFA.

SPFL is becoming the home of statements. All getting a bit farcical this now trying to get one up on someone else. What happened to sorting these things out in private and moving on? This stuff just makes the game look pathetic

Got to laugh. I tried to read up on what the Bronze criteria is, but the SFA website page searches take you to isn't working! Can anyone help?

Buckie Thistle released contents of a decision notice saying that decisions on the areas that needed improvement had been deferred to the 15th of May, and are now looking at taking the decision to remove them from the playoffs to arbitration.

Surely there will be minutes for the meeting with the SFA that Buckie speak about in their statement which clearly shows that a derogation for certain licensing criteria was agreed at the meeting.
I suspect it was not agreed and the Buckie representative has misunderstood, hearing what he wanted to hear.

By that time, the play-offs would be over. Had Buckie won their way through to the SPFL, what would then happen if they can't fulfil the licence conditions?

For me then that would be the time to disqualify them from the process, and the team in 10th in league two should keep their place.

Assuming Buckie Thistle were to win the playoffs or beat EK, that is.

Should be automatic bottom two down in every division. At the bottom, replace with winners of Highland League and Lowland League. Add a play off for bottom third versus top third below for extra excitement.

Thats where it all gets a bit complicated if you have, say, two ex-HL teams finishing bottom two. It already exists in England with their pyramid system.

The things for me regarding this license thing is a farce, Kelty hearts, edinburgh city, cove, Peterhead and also Airdrie have the exact same status as Buckie regarding eufa license thing.. all are lowest level.

The SFA last updated their club licence list last month (January) It shows five clubs already in the SPFL – Airdrieonians, Cove Rangers, Edinburgh City, Kelty Hearts and Peterhead – don’t yet have a bronze licence
It is understood these clubs are working to attain the required licence, but there is uncertainty about what could happen if they don’t achieve it in time for next term

I dunno, I kinda feel as if though Buckie have ****ed themselves rather than any SFA bias. Didn't they qualify for the playoffs in previous seasons no problem?
That said, we have far too many WoS teams in the SPFL so hope they win their appeal and relegate Clyde.

They were all told of the new requirements at the beginning of the season, which is a tight deadline. Presumably, those clubs have asked for extensions, which is why they are still there.
The official line is that Buckie didn't ask for one.

Aye, sorry. I re-read my post earlier and thought it needed tidying up but didn't do it. I was meaning the Prem, Champ L1 situations.

I just can’t understand from a footballing perspective why any team wouldn’t want promoted into the leagues. I’ve just looked at Buckie on a map and it would be one hell of an away day that only the most dedicated away fans travelling from outside the highlands would make, especially in league 2, and their own away days outwith the highlands would be a bit more expensive and pretty long but it still didn’t quite add up.
The prize money and sponsorship in the SPFL must surely be fair bit higher and whilst bottom of League 2 vs top of Highland league might be marginal, they must see the long term hope of getting up to the championship and getting some big games. Cove Rangers and Kelty hearts will pull in 80k in prize money alone this season and are both still in with a shot at the play offs to enter the Championship. That must be tempting for clubs that were at your level a few years back. That’s not to mention the increased transfer value of your lucky enough to have a great young player.
It’s widely discussed that they threw their last play off but regardless of what the club might want I just can’t picture any playing squad being willing to accept that order.

The radio said today they don’t have a club doctor and this is the medical issue mentioned- you need a doctor guaranteed to be at every game.
Brechin apparently watching closely as they’re compliant and lost the title to Buckie on goal difference (2 goals difference) and believe that they have a case

Not necessarily the issue in Buckie's case, but the massive awayday for visiting fans also means lots of massive awaydays in the other direction for part-time footballers whose mortgages are being paid by their other jobs. Regional football might make more sense for a lot of these guys.

Apparently, getting one is hard enough in that part of the country for surgeries…so might well be the case. To be fair their statement says they’re working on it. Who knows.

That's correct, the ground is already up to bronze level, It's little things that need sorted, and Buckie have said they would confirm the doctor by 10th May.
Fwiw if Buckie were still rejected I would prefer Brechin to get the tie than give EK a pass. But that's because EK are a plastic club and I'd rather one of the Highland teams in
