I must have missed this and never saw anything about the transfer. How much did we get for his move?

Probably not official but I think I read in the region of about 300k. He was on the bench for Sassuolo at the weekend and didn't play.

Certainly in danger although it's quite tight between a number of teams at the bottom.

Quite a random transfer, no? Wonder what was behind it.

I think he was scunnered with Verona messing him around with the Marseilles transfer.

Watched him play last week and he was quite good. Hopefully they don't go down, like to support a team in green and white.

I hope they stay up. It would be a bit of a disaster for him if they go down and Verona stay up. I can't remember but I think Verona were below Sassuolo when he made the move.

I recall reading the original reason Verona were selling him was because they were skint, and as you say I think that the messing around with Marseilles prompted him to move fairly sharpish after the move to France fell through.

I feel for Josh. It sounds like Verona messed him about a little bit and instead of getting to move up a level to Marseille he's been forced into what is now almost looking like a backwards step to Sassuolo, although their position does surprise me as they've been a good midtable Serie A side for about 10 years now.
I do fear for the next phase of his career should they go down, although perhaps it would make his exit somewhere else easier as I'm not hugely sure Italy is a great place to be at the moment if you're not in the top sort of 8 clubs in the country.

Isn't this what roughly happened with Henderson though? Bit of a yo-yo player and then it stuck somewhere. Seems the Italian clubs do a lot of player trading between themselves when they get relegated etc.

Pretty much yeah. Although he was a bit more unlucky with Bari going to pot. I always respected Henderson for not coming back with his tail between his legs after that as it would have been quite easy to do so and instead threw himself into going again.

BBC Gossip saying a summer move to Lazio is now on the cards. Presume he has a release clause if Sassuolo go down.

Would we get any benefit if he moves again

Depends if Verona have a sell on clause with Sassuolo. If they do, we’d likely get a small amount.

At the very least we will get a fee as part of FIFA’s training compensation scheme, which will be a pro-rated proportion of 5% of any fee based on how long he spent at Hibs.

We might get something small but its likely any sort of windfall from Doig has been and gone now after his move from Verona sadly.

So for example, if we had say a 20% sell on clause with Verona, and they have the same 20% deal with Sassuolo, we’d get 20% of Verona’s 20% ie 4%?

We’ll probably never know, in theory teams can put absolutely anything in a contract. It would seem probable that’s how it would work though. It’s certainly worked that way with many other moves.

Suppose it depends what initial contract says in terms Josh moving to other teams

I would be surprised if any club apart from hearts wouldn't put a sell on clause in.

Doig and Henderson will be together in the Italian 2nd tier next season.
Henderson Jnr has been playing in the Belgian 2nd tier this season and Porteous and Nisbet in the English 2nd tier.
Excel at Hibs and you could play in the 2nd tier of a bigger country.

They do put sell in clauses in. They just cash them in early for peanuts.

Yeah for sure. The only thing is once you get beyond the first move getting 20% of 20% profit can start to get small quickly.
We really could have done with him getting that Marseille move or Verona not being a basket case and using him properly to get that Leeds move etc. In the end Verona have only sold him for a couple million more than they paid.
