Presuming Dundee lose midweek and we are still in the hunt;
Marshall (only because I don't trust Wollacott)
Cadden
Fish
Hanlon
Obita
NMW
Triantis
Emiliano
Youan
ALF
Maolida.
Boyle and Newall dropped for Elie and NMW. Hanlon in because I trust him more than the rest.

I think we know Newell won't be dropped and rightly so. One bad game doesn't make him a bad player, and NWM is completely different to him. If he's coming in, Triantis goes out IMO.
I can see Boyle being benched though.

I think its pretty clear that he won't play Hanlon. If it does it would make me think that someone else in the club has pretty much instructed him to do it.
Newell won't get dropped. Midfield will and should be MW, JN, EM. With Josh Campbell coming on for any of them during the game.
I didn't have an issue with Boyle on Saturday. We just didn't use him and pass the ball to him. Another problem with not having a Left sided CB. The pass was on constantly and only Joe Newell did it once. Rocky doesnt even look in that direction.
He's here!

Unfortunately I think we're now grasping at straws trying to conjure up a team that can get us into the top six. It comes down to mentality as much as anything and we showed on Saturday we're simply not strong enough to cope with what was a must-win game against not exactly intimidating opponents.

Agree don't think it makes a blind bit of difference who plays, the whole bunch lack the mental strength that's needed to win games week in week out.

The biggest underperformer is ultimately Marcondes. He comes with the reputation and price tag and has the talent undoubtedly but has rarely delivered anything impactful (goals, assists, incisive passes) in last few games.

After a good start you get the impression he's just marking time till the end of the season and he can get away.

I think you've missed my point. The ball was out to the right to Boyle. A left footed player sees that and plays it more. Hence why Newell did it when dropped in once to take the ball off Marsh.

Apologies if this has been dealt with elsewhere. But because Obita got two yellows and a sending off, does his suspension apply to the next Scottish cup tie.Whereas Moriah Welshs straight red got him a suspension in any competition.
Next question will we ever see Lewis Miller in a Hibs jersey again ?

He created 2 great opportunities. 1 first half where he slipped in ALF was genius, ALF messed it up. 2nd half he lifted a great little ball to Myz free in the box, couldn't sort his feet.
Also involved in a nice one two in the midfield for the goal.

My view would be that we pretty much score every game against teams that are below and around us. Marcondes has been very poor and his work rate has dropped too. I want a bit of extra stability to allow the front 3 to have more freedom and for Newell to play further forward where he is much better. So Moriah Welsh who has the engine to get up and down as well as Joe and Triantis to sit in front of the defenders and cover when full backs go up. Fish has been poor imo and although Rocky wasn't great at the first goal on Saturday I think we need his pace.

Wouldn’t play Marcondes, too slow & doesn’t contribute enough, but seems to get off lightly.
Probably won’t matter who plays because we ain’t winning this. Too many players are lacking in effort or fitness, it’s one or the other.

Saturday was as poor as he has been for us, but as you say he still has moments of quality in him. He had several moments of quality against Rangers at Ibrox too. He does lack a bit of pace, but really don't get the view that he isnt trying as some are suggesting.

I still think Marcondes is quality. Should be in our staring 11 every week. If he's carrying a knock it might explain is poor performance on Saturday. With the quality he has it's really difficult to leave him out.

Yeah, fair enough can live with that - Cadden has been playing well. Thinking was just more of a right back than a wing back for this one, get ball early to Youan/Myziane and leave them with the space plus having a mind Bair is a big lad and Miller gives me more assurance helping out with the physical side plus height/aggression for corners, we are a bit weak at the middle of defence. We are a bit too open still when we play our best players, especially with Marcondes playing mid. That's to say that our best 11 doesn't equate to our best functioning team, if that makes sense

Very good points and understandable wanting a more natural defender in Miller thought his reliability fitness wise has been an issue for a while. Was wondering when he last played a full game.

Never realised Motherwell have been so poor at home this season, they haven't won many at all since beating us early doors. Aberdeen have beat them twice in that period.
Would give me confidence for Saturday if only our away record wasn't equally as terrible. Anybody's game though maintain we have the better players so if we turn up for a change could give ourselves a shout. Then again, Aberdeen's home record doesn't make for pretty viewing either

Motherwell know they need to win this game so am hoping thst allows us to play on the counter offensive and that they don’t handle the pressure
But it could end up a high scoring game and we have only scored three goals once in the league this season I think So Motherwell will just keep going and hope to out score us knowing we can’t defend that well

Unfortunately I think we're now grasping at straws trying to conjure up a team that can get us into the top six. It comes down to mentality as much as anything and we showed on Saturday we're simply not strong enough to cope with what was a must-win game against not exactly intimidating opponents.
We have the players and I've no doubt that they have the talent but they have no clue what they're meant to be doing.
A coaching shambles as it has been all season. We could have £10m players in every position and still fail to beat the likes of St. Johnstone.
Until we get a proper manager/coach there's no point in spending more money on players - the coaches we have will only make them worse.

Particularly defensively, there is nothing any manager can do about some of the individual errors we’ve witnessed week in, week out.

I'd go with almost the same team as last week, drop triantis for NMW and Boyle for youan though.

Hopefully the two fullbacks do abit more backtracking today . Its been a problem all year leaving to much space on the flanks which i think is why teams get so many crosses into our box too . Think other teams know it's an area they can exploit.

Same team as the St Johnstone game but NMW in for Triantis for me. I'd actually keep Boyle in the starting XI. Be tempted to go Youan, Myziane and Boyle but think we need ALF in the team.
I'd drop Fish for Hanlon but that's never happening.

Moriah Welsh has to play.
His energy and appetite for the game is contagious
If the rest of the team match his speed and enthusiasm to get things done quickly, then we will be fine.
