... of a relatively decent standing like we have within their domestic league, that gives their support SO little to shout about?
Surely can't be anyone else throwing up more occasions when you feel utterly deflated coming away from a game. No big wins in ages, losing all the major cup ties when it comes down to it, hardly any late comebacks when you feel you've earned a really good point, constantly dropping points against sides comfortably inferior to us on paper...
This isn't a critique of NM or individual players, it's pretty much been a constant since 2010 bar two or three years. It's unbelievable what we as Hibs fans saddle ourselves with.

In the UK? I’d look at the likes of Everton, Sunderland, even Leeds in recent decades… Being relatively big doesn’t prevent being poorly run, sadly!

As they say, size doesn't matter if you've not got a clue what to do with it.

I'd argue none of them have the relative budget on a year-by-basis where you'd expect them to have a good record against 90 per cent of other clubs in that country.
I can barely remember the last sustained period you'd confidently back Hibs to beat St Johnstone, St Mirren, Dundee, Motherwell or Ross County. Incredible how wrong we get it.

Everton spent vast amounts in recent years, hence their recent difficulties, never getting anything like the return.
On budget they were expecting European football and got years of relegation battles.
Us Aberdeen and hearts are probably the three biggest clubs outside the old firm.
However we are not significantly bigger clubs than the rest of the league to consistantly win.
The gap between us and the cheeks is far bigger than us and the lower clubs.

I'd fancy us to have comfortably better records than them.
Feels like my football going life is defined by groups of 200-600 folk in the South Stand going ape **** after the latest in a series of neverending late goals.

Everton, Newcastle, Aston Villa, Spurs. All underachievers.
