Saw a promo for an Kevin McKenna interview with - well it doesn’t matter the point was it made me think of Margot MacDonald - who as I understand it was a weedgie / from the West and took Hibs in her heart - indeee chaired iirc the Hands off Hibs Rally in the Usher hall.
So my question is who and do we know why?
Tony Higgins - probably just playing Eddie Turnbull
is Pat Nevin from Glasgow?
there was a guy from London Hibs - Jimmy - who was a weedgie iirc but I never heard his story but ask understand it was a bit of a LH legend..
needn’t be well-Kent faces - if you’re a weedgie - we have a few - what brought you to the Hibees?

My wife who was a currant bun before I met her, now a happy (sometimes) Hibbie.
I think David Murphy, Lewis S and Darren McG had something to do with it tho!

Me too - went to school with mainly Bosh types - not pleasant I can tell you especially as I just couldn’t hide my absolute love for Hibernian FC 😁 Got me into a few tricky moments but I survived 😁

I’ve been through here long enough that to east coasters they think I’m a weegie but not long enough for the weegies and neo-weegies (Lanarkshire and Dunbartonshire, I’ve just made up that word and made up a definition for it on the spot) to pick up on the way I pronounce certain words and ask where I’m from. As Irvine Welsh said, they’re not friendly they’re just ****in nosey.

Must have been some Christmas dinners Brian……I only learned by accident this week that one of your brothers (c) is a Jambo!
Cannae say I saw him display any Jambo tendencies at school?

Two words
JOHN BROWNLIE.
it must have been an early 70’s game on tv that I first saw Brownlie play and that was that!

Don't think Pat wanted his kids brought up with the nonsense that goes with Celtic Rangers.

Pat Nevin, well documented that he stopped supporting Celtic due to their pro IRA songs.
Think his son has a Season Ticket.

A link below to anyone interested in joining the West of Scotland Hibs Supporters Club.
A few of us meet regularly and often travel to games together.
Try to run a bus a few times a season as well.
All newcomers welcome.

Born and bred in Glasgow. Didn't have any family ties to any of the Glasgow teams (father was a lapsed Clyde fan). Got interested in going to games in my early teens and even at that age, realised I wanted nothing to do with the hate filled old firm. Close to being a Partick fan but ended up going with a pal to Hibs games. Maybe it was the adventure of the travel or the romance of Edinburgh city, but I've never looked back (well maybe once or twice...). One of my other best pals is Jambo and has no real connection to Edinburgh either.
Just retired and have now bought my first ever season ticket for next season !
Onwards and upwards.

What was the background of the classic fanzine “The Glasgow Gossip”?
There were certainly east coast contributors but were the founders Glasgow based?

Im actually 2nd generaton weedgie hibby.
Old man in his youth ws taken to an Old Firm game - adged aboiut 8 - and hated it and started to play more football than watch. Was working in Edinburgh in very early 70s - trvelled through by train and became pals with Tony Higgins going through for training - and got talked into going to a few Hibs games in 72. Loved the style of play and the fact there was none of the cr@p from the crowds and fell in love, then i starting ging along with him

I had to move to Cumbernauld in 75 to start my apprenticeship along with a lot of other guys from the central belt. I became friends with a lot of guys from Glasgow who were all one or the other. Apart from one guy from Clydebank who was a diehard Hibby.
