The East stand has hand rails for people going up and down the steps, I have seen a few near nasty falls in West upper recently, does anyone have any idea if Hibs will introduce those, or is there a way of asking if this could happen? I am getting on myself and at times it would be handy😅

I have often thought this myself. They're not great. Best views in the stadium but not so good for anyone unwell, feart o heights or getting less mobile.

There is a hand rail in section 13 but perhaps that more of a separation between us plebs and the comfy seats. Didn't realise there were none elsewhere, which does seem a real issue and should be rectified.

Yeah it’s important - my seats in FF Upper are back row and either my Dad and Mum are going
They’re in their 70s so the handrail is essential
Thought all the similar areas would have them

I was in the back row of the West upper for the St.Mirren league cup match. It was bad enough hauling myself up but I thought coming out was an accident waiting to happen and made my way along the back row until I found the aisle with a down rail. If someone stumbles it could be a disaster. My usual seat is in the second front row so I hadn’t realised how poor the situation is.

This should have been more a priority than rail seating but maybe just hasn't been mentioned much.

Even with the handrail I find it difficult going down as my knees don’t cope well going down stairs.

I guess a lot of people my age and older will understand that as the downward motion puts a lot more strain on the knee joint.

Last time I visited Easter Road I couldn’t believe there were no handrails in the part of the west….My missus and I were in hospitality ….and we’re close to the same vintage as you Jim.

My comment at the time, coming over on holiday from Oz, was that if it was in Australia I’m not sure it would have passed a safety inspection.

Definitely an accident waiting to happen.

It's generally pretty slow emptying out at full time with people shuffling down one step at a time. Same at half time if going for a pie or a pee.

If you're going while the game is on, chances are you'll be ht only one going down the steps, so just take your time.

The lower tier isn't so steep, maybe look to move there if you're concerned about falling.

Don't think there's ever been an issue in 20+ years. It's more to do with all of us getting older!!

The lower tier legroom is rank by comparison.

Not sure why it's a problem improving H and S as that's what this is. We shouldn't have to wait for a serious incident to address the issue. It wouldn't be too expensive to put in the wee hand rails on the stairs.

I used to wonder why everyone in our row went towards the centre of the stand at the end of the game. There's no way they're getting out quickly but I've just twigged it might well be all the folk wanting the one handrail in the stand...

I have had a ST for the West Stand since it was built. I have decided not to renew for the coming season. I am 79 yrs old and have a genuine fear of falling when departing a match. If and when hand rails are installed in the West I will reconsider.

It's definitely an issue and should be rectified close season, even more so if it's putting people off renewing.

As I said, I've never noticed it as a wider problem as there is a rail where I am in 13 but they should be in place across the whole stand.

Accident waiting to happen

It is like scaling Kilaminjaro getting to the back row without oxygen

The view is worth it though you can see exactly how the game is panning out anyone having a poor game stands out like a sore thumb

Tip never put your hands in your pockets when leaving

Handrails need immediate attention must be a health and safety issue

Sorry to hear that.

My Dad is about your age and, on the rare occasions he does attend, we sit near the front of the West Lower. Not as good a view as higher up, but needs must.

I’d suggest moving to the lower section. They arent going to re-engineer the upper in close season. It could be worse, you could be in the east!

Been in west upper a few times for cup ties etc. Very dangerous when its been raining and the stairs are wet

Diagonal seating plan could maybe work??

I’ve no idea if this has ever been tried but in theory it would be safer to walk up steps diagonally rather than straight up and down.

Been sitting there for more than twenty years and never seen a fall, nor have I found it dangerous or slippy when it’s been raining. I do however agree that handrails would be a worthwhile addition.

I always feel shaky walking down the stairs in the east and I can't even blame old age or alcohol for it.

I was only once in the back row and decided there and then, never again, anyone who suffers from vertigo it's not the place for you and yes hand rails should be mandatory.
