What do you reckon folks?

No one will validate or deny so I’m suspecting it’s a free-for-all for pundits journos etc…

just say a figure and say it with confidence no questions will be asked check who fills the top ten.

With the exception of Alf I suspect those salaries for Hibs players are probably about correct.

How can they see ALF on a supposed £18k a week and decide the article is actually worth printing??:rotflmao:

At the start of the season FM24 had ALF on £15k a week. He would have obviously been on a good wage in Australia, but if we are paying him close to even half of that I'd be astonished

We're not.

Think he confirmed this himself and Patrick McPartlin has too. Think he was on 18k AUD and it was wrongly converted directly to GBP.

But the article obviously did absolutely zero research cause no one seems to care what they say about us these days. Just print whatever they want.

I find it hard to believe Hearts only have 2 of the top 10 with them being 7th and 8th and neither is Shankland. If that's anywhere near accurate then no wonder he'll be leaving in the summer. McKinlay said they'd made him a good offer but they've got a wage structure to work within. So what's that likely to be? 10% above the next highest? Which would be £5k per week. Bit insulting, I'd be fuming at that if I was a Jambo if it's anywhere near that low.

They've taken that from a website called 'Salary Sport'. They've got both Shankland & Liam Boyce on 3k a week (Eamonn Brophy is on 3.3k at Ross County) and Hearts' overall wage bill is £4.4m, Aberdeen's is £3.9m, ours is £4.7m (not including our Jan signings). Really poor from The Scotsman, it's complete hogwash.

it’s all a pile of… and will almost never get scrutinised.

As long as folks read with a critical mind but many take as gospel - like the “journalist” attributed - what the Faulk was going on there?

Total fiction like the majority of player salary articles.

So I make it

18000
7900
6400
5000
4300
———-
41600

x 50 weeks

= £2m approx.

That’s 1/5 or 20% of our total staffing costs (£10m as per accounts)

for 5 players.

So the other 80% on
28 remaining First team squad

Development and youth teams

Management staff
Medical staff
HTC
- misc coaching staff

Assuming the women’s team / setup will be from a different budget.

in short….

This is the kind of critical thinking we should expect to see from journalists, so no surprises that article was published really.

Well done on showing it up for the utter rubbish that it is.

I thought at first it was an article written by ai, but there are so many basic spelling a grammar mistakes it’s clearly just a low effort “article” based on numbers pulled from random other sites with no solid source.

How far has The Scotsman fallen. If this is the standard why would anyone pay a subscription other than nostalgia perhaps? Subscriptions still attract adverts just less and prob more targeted.

Back in the day I used to buy it daily - a habit inherited from my dad but is off the chart.

The Dons supporter in the ALF photo clearly doesn't beleive it 😂
