Is it just me or am I not seeing the bigger picture but neither Marcondes or maolida worked hard enough for the team last night both were caught in possession on far to many
occasions for my liking, it was a cup tie had they had put the effort in Rangers were their for the taking.

Work rate wasn’t the issue. Lack of quality in final third was.

The thing that angered me the most last night (refereeing aside) is that Marshall did his job by saving the penalty but we somehow allowed Jhun Hundstram to get to the ball first. This was absolutely criminal. If you look at Maoilda he is standing on the edge of his box rooted to the ground with his hands on his hips as Hundstram sprints past him to knock it in.

Basic stuff, Marshall must he fuming.

I thought we played well last night tbh . Certainly not a lack of work rate from anyone though did think we lacked a cutting edge in attack.

Disagree.

Marcondes especially, imo, put in a power of work playing the lone striker role.

Maolida was poor for me on the ball, can’t say I noticed a lack of work rate though and it’s probably the quietest I’ve seen tavernier against us.

I noticed on the replay lundstrum stood a few yards back from the edge of the box and started running in when tavernier did so already at a rate of knots as he crossed into the box, hate to say it, very clever.

Disagree.
I also think the criticism of Youan is overblown and doesn’t stand up to scrutiny. There’s fans round me who are screaming at him for not diving into tackles at The edge of the box and trying to flick it out instead, which is a legitimate defensive tactic, especially when the refs are desperate to book hibs players. But folk have decided hes ‘lazy’ and thats that.

Joe Newell got the ball first, unfortunately he wasn't able to clear it and it hit off Lundstrum, wasnt like he ran in and slotted it home with no one near him

I was thinking they are loan players for a reason. They are trying - but they're not as fast and fit as some players.
That was my impression but I see what you mean.

I was surprised more folk weren't raging about this tbh.

Lundstram times his run well but it was like he wanted the ball most - which should be inexcusable.

In general though, I reckon criticism of our general work rate last night is totally unfair.

Criticism of our lack of quality in the final third is perfectly justified tbh, we did well all over the park but rarely laid a glove on them. Our best chance was a tackle.

Maybe your scrutiny, you’ll be very much in the minority with your opinion again. IMO of course 😁. He definitely doesn’t work his socks off like a Bente for example.

Not good enough really though was it.

Youan absolutely shat out of a couple of challenges last night. He helped cost us v Celtic in the last minute by doing the same thing. Totally unacceptable for a footballer at any level.

I agree, we should have specially trained Ninjas dressed in green grass suits that can pop up in a millisecond so that next time they can get there first and clear the danger before disappearing in a puff of smoke, can blame flares from Block 7, really is the perfect crime

Is this the same Maolida that sprinted 35 yards to close down Butland and almost scored and the same Marcondes playing in an unusual position in the middle and actually worked like a Trojan to keep the ball moving?

I’ve seen him shirk away from a few as well.

WTF are you on about? Its absolutely basic for the defensive team to get to the ball first and clear any rebounds away from danger.

We let one of the slowest men on the pitch get to the ball to score and you are talking about needing ninjas?:hilarious

There’s a middle ground between diving into tackles and ducking out of 50/50s. Youan doesn’t have the balance right IMO. Two 50/50s last night where all that was required was stand up strong and the ricochet might fall in his favour and lead to an attack. Instead he simply ducked out of both challenges and off the Rangers player went.

We did get the ball first, it just didn't work out, you are never going to win 100% of them, luck of the bounce, deflections etc all play a part

Trained ninjas in green grass suits is more classic Lee Johnson than anything Lee Johnson ever said.

Just watched it again, there are 4 Hibs players in and around him, the break of the ball went against us, Ninjas would have helped

I dont think Newell even does get to the ball first. He hangs a leg up but Lundstram is there to put it in. Even if Newell does get there first then he's made a meal of it.

Look at this picture of our starting positons from when Tavernier is about to strike the ball. You dont need ninjas you just need players to match Lundstrams desire:

I did notice Youan pull out of a tackle just after both sending offs, I honestly think Youan thought if he didn’t pull out he’d get sent off

That’s being very kind to Youan. Pulling out of challenges is something he does fairly regularly.

Or really stupid one of our players never matched it or stood in front of him to stop that. You only have one job when defending a penalty and we failed miserably

Look at Lundstram, look at Newell & Maolida. I'm sure the management team will have picked up on that.

That is criminal allowing a channel for him to run through. I thought he may have been on teh edge of teh D so no-one could get in front but that starting position is easily defended if you have any defensive acumen.

Youre the one filling your posts with laughing emojis. I merely asked for your evidence for what the majority view of Hibs fans was. Im not sure why youre being so strange but ill put you on ignore for both our sakes. Have a nice rest of your evening.
