He's also pretty much demonstrating the truth of one of the core tenets of Marxism, that increasing inequaliy is absolutely inevitable and there'a no one coming to save us but ourselves.

Stevenson is an interesting person to listen to and more relatable than the usual academic studies on this subject. But saying that I would recommend Daniel Chandler's book Free & Equal and Ingrid Robeyn's new book Limitiarianism: The case against extreme wealth, both are along the same lines. Chandler's books is a reimagining of a fairer capitalist society. Robeyn's is a practical look into what limiting the amount of money any person can hold would be like. Both are highly respected academics with a background in economics and philosophy. We need to look at other ways of running the world, not just for the human race but for the planet itself. I am usually a bit of a pessimist but Stevenson, Chandler and Robeyns have all given me a bit of hope over the last couple of years.
