Nick Montgomery is under no illusions on what Wednesday night’s Edinburgh Derby means to the Hibernian FC supporters.
Looking for his first derby victory, Montgomery has witnessed the incredible atmosphere and the passion created by the Hibs faithful both at Easter Road and Tynecastle.
Both of those derbies have been incredibly tight affairs, which is exactly what he expects again on Wednesday.
“You always expect tight games in derby matches, they’re normally full of passion and drama as well,” said our Head Coach.
“It’s an opportunity for us to give a good account of ourselves. We’ve given a good account of ourselves in the previous two, and been unfortunate in the last game not to take any points.
“We’re full of confidence that we can get a result. I know exactly what it means to the fans, so do the players, and the new players that came in. We will give everything we can.” - null
The Hibees come into this one off the back of a 2-1 win over Dundee and buoyed by a number of positive performances.
“I think the confidence and momentum has been building over the last few weeks with the internationals and a few of the injured boys coming back, and the new players coming in. You can see how they’ve started to gel over the last couple of weeks; you can see it on the pitch and on the training pitch.
“We’re in a really strong position moving forward, and the last few performances have reflected that.
“We could’ve had more points than what we have, but it was a good win at the weekend, and we go into Wednesday full of confidence.”

Our Head Coach also reserved special praise for the Hibernian FC supporters and detailed how much impact they have on the team.
“I love our fans; they’re amazing. They drove us on at the weekend big time in a game we should’ve been more comfortable in, and every game away from home, no matter if it’s a derby or Inverness away, they always come in their force, and I love that about them.
“The last game at Tynecastle to come back the way we did, to score two goals at that end, and to see the passion and joy in the supporters’ faces is something I’ll always remember.
“Now we want to go one better and get three points.”
