Das ist Wahnsinn!

I looked up on yaTube…

So they celebrated with Die Mannschaft (never understood why it is “die”) when they won the World Cup…. It is a bit random … even for Porty….

I think we need to get to the bottom of this phenomenon - at least there is a fußball link…

I'm more of a Helene Fischer man myself, but each to their own.

Die is feminine for the in the nominative, HOWEVER, it becomes der where used in the dative but it is also the plural for the in nominative use but den in the dative and der again in the genitive. Once you've cracked that then German is a doddle. Alternatively you can pretend you're a Berliner and just say dit for everything. :greengrin

I’m trying to learn German for my upcoming trip and the gender bit catches me out often, the cases just melt my brain. Fortunately it’s Berlin I’m going to so I’ll take your advice and say dit :greengrin

I'll be appearing in a Berlin nightclub in April.

I was always ******** at grammar - in English - auf Deutsch I was pretty good aber etwas vierzig jahre n ago :) do remember die being feminine and plural - probably my English grammar lets me down with knowing how to deal with the collective noun - which is of course plural… I should have paid more attention in English :)
