View Full Version : Question What if?

What is the biggest “what if” moment you can think of as a Hibs fan?

One that springs to mind for me is; what if Jack Ross was backed as much as the preceding managers were e.g given the centre back and striker he asked for.

Or, what if Kyle Magennis hadn’t got injured that season?

What if we never got relegated is one that springs to mind but usually in a weird 'thank god we actually did' way.

Don't get me wrong it was awful and getting out the Championship proved to be a bit of a mess but I think we can all agree that the club that went down and the club that came back up were polar opposites of each other. That and we obviously won the cup.

If Tony Andreu skies that effort at the edge of the box in the play off final does the hoodoo live on?

I reckon we'd have had collective brain freeze, and not had a scoob what to do with an hour to go and only two goals needed.

Hark back to the game before - what if McGregor hadn't had that fresh air swipe in the last minute and we didn't need to beat the Huns by six.

I reckon we'd have done it, Aberdeen would've had even more pressure to win at Celtic and blown it, we'd have been 2nd and who knows what that could have done for us.

Ridiculous as it sounds when he shipped 7 goals, their keeper actually had a decent game and pulled off some good saves. One in particular from Stanton I still have no idea how he got to it. Should have been double figures. That goes for the 6-2 game too.

Could easily have been two cup doubles in the space of five years. Ah well. If only eh.

We blew a great chance to win two cups in 2006/07 by losing to Dunfermline in the Scottish Cup semi-final replay. Think they were already relegated yet we failed to score against them over two games. Celtic weren't at their best that year and wouldn't have been a stick-on to win the final had we reached it. That one really, really rankled with me. It was the time of the player revolt but they should have been professional enough to put that to one side and get the job done.

I’m sure it was five goals we needed to win by?

Aberdeen would not have known what was going on at ER, the players anyway.

They won, and finished second and I reckon if we had beaten Rangers by 5 (or 6 if it was needed) we wouldn’t have finished second anyway.

Gow scored when clean through to make it 2-2
Nish scored when clean through to make it 1-0
Palsson, Riordan, Thornhill or half the team scored easy chances to make it 2-1 or 3-2
Caldwell scored that point blank header to make it 2-1
Griffiths' free kick was given as over the line to make it 1-0
Craig scored when clean through to make it 1-1, or we scored any of the other 20 chances we had in that game
Forster's header wasn't ruled out for offside to make it 1-1
Collins scored from point blank to make it 2-2
Craig scored the penalty to make it 1-0
Shaw's strike was given as over the line to make it 1-0
Nisbet scored the penalty to make it 2-1
Campbell scored with the goalkeeper stranded to make it 1-0
We scored any of our ****ing 50 chances to make it 2-2
