Roughly 2/3’s through the season, who is in the running for it at this stage?

Probably Joe Newall retaining it for me. Can’t really think of anyone having a better season.

Can’t really see anyone but Newell getting it.

Obita been impressive for large parts of the season too I suppose.

No real stand outs.

Miller for YPOTY?

Obita by a mile.

Most consistent performer.

I don't think he will get it because he's had spells where he's been utterly horrendous or looked uninterested and fans remember these things. But Elie Youan potentially ending this season on double digit goals and assists would probably consider himself in with a shout.

Otherwise it will probably be between Boyle and Newell, especially if Boyle can add some more numbers between now and the end of the season to lock it up.

Nobody to date been paricularly outstanding, was tempted to say Owen Bevan, the lad hasnt put a foot wrong, well in Hibs shirt :) its been that sort of season.

I'd probably go with Joe Newell.

Considering Newell got it ahead of Nisbet last season, I doubt any of the new January additions will have a chance regardless of how well they play.

It’s going to be Newell as it stands but it’s well open with 14 plus cup to play. Win the cup of drag ourselves back into a European spot then whoever os out best player for the rest of the season take it over anyone form the somewhat pish 2/3rds

Newell or Obita for me too.

It's been an unremarkable season so far all round but we can normally depend on those two to put in a shift.

Different story for whoever scores the winner at Tynie and then gets us through to winning the cup mind...

think Newell's the favourite at the moment, but never forget the old 'primary and recency'' thing when it comes to voting...so a consistent back end of the season by somebody
could blow that out of the water

Trouble is virtually all the regular players have had good games but unfortunately have had horror shows to cancel that out.

For me it would be Will Fish closely followed by Jordan Obita

Fish is definitely a decent shout. While not a stand out as such he’s been relied upon with steady and consistent performances.

Newell has to be in contention but it’s pretty slim pickings at the moment.

Moriah-Welsh is already a fans favourite, and if he continues in the same vein than he’s started and keeps that level of performance and tenacity up for the rest of season he could sneak in on the blind side to claim the award.

In a poor season, for me its between Fish, Newell, Obita and the Og guy-even though he doesnt seem to have scored many has still performed better than most.

Still all to play for though.

He's been very good the past 2-3 months after a shaky start to the season. Every outfield player has been mainly mince.

I only go on the crack on a Sunday btw.

Joe Newell by a country mile. For singlehandedly holding what passed for a midfield together all season. No one else comes close.

Very hard to pick a PotY as everyone's been inconsistent so far though I'd probably say at this moment in time I'd go for Obita or Youan and Fish as YPotY .

DickieDastardly

A reflection of the times that it is a tricky one to pick a POTY, Newell surely has to be favourite, not least because he actually looks like he cares in games where we’ve been dreadful.

Yet in years gone by (1981 for me) despite long periods of total mediocrity, I’ve always generally felt we had strong players who stood out from the rest; is that a reflection of the modern era, loan deal player, social media driven society, where so many players no longer really feel an affinity to a club?

Or perhaps I’m just becoming old and cynical…

The general feeling here is that generally they have all been largely pish, I tend to agree with that, although I do think Miller has had a kind of decent season.

Very good is a bit of a stretch, he's been better lately after being awful for months, he's nowhere near being a contender for POTY.

Newell, Obita or Fish are the 3 obvious ones that are in with a shout, imo, a few games to go yet though.

We're all entitled to our own opinions and it's mine that he's been asked to do way too much on his own, but he's done that to the best of his ability. If we hadn't had him this season we'd be bottom 2, imo.
