There are plenty of perfectly valid reasons (not 'excuses') why people won't be able to go, including cost, distance/travel, work or family commitments. For plenty of folk, getting to a Hibs v Rangers cup tie, much as they might like to be there, doesn't top the list of life's priorities.

All excuses will be perfectly valid. I’ve missed games for many reasons like we all have, but when we have a support base as large as ours, when it comes to some of those cup games at home there’s more empty spaces than valid excuses.
Ultimately many just can’t be bothered. Probably the same folk who start demanding for 50/50 splits and for the club to be laying on buses when the finals come around.

Blame the club for years of piss poor performances, excessive prices, and failing to stand up for the club/support against both Rangers and Celtic.
That's the reason why these games are so poorly attended now.
When the above is addressed, then I'm certain you'll see an improvement in attendance.
Personally, I think we'll be lucky to sell 10k.

Depends on results leading up to the game. If we continue to struggle in the league then yes sales will be poor. A turnaround in our results/performances tho will see a decent turnout.
You're right about the years of (mostly) rubbish on the pitch as being a big factor. Don't think we've really laid a glove on Rangers since the Stubbs/Lennon days and the fact we coild drop to 10th place this week really underlines how woefully inadequate our level of performance has been.

Pretty much. If we're in good form and playing well going into the game, we'll get a good crowd, if not, it'll be poor.
We really could do with a sell out, though. We saw in the accounts hope important cup money is to the club. Drawing one of Rangers or Celtic before the semi final stage certainly puts the cup run at great risk, so making the most of this game is essential.

Hopefully there is a common sense agreement between the clubs with regards to pricing. Rangers will sell out pretty much regardless of the price so finding a balance between maximising income from the hun pound and getting more Hibs fans through the door is key. You have to factor in the game will be on TV so the usual category A prices are likely to see a lot of people choose to stay at home.
Somewhere around the £25 mark would seem a decent compromise to me. Maybe even £28 with a reduction to £25 for ST holders who purchase their own seat before a certain date. Drive early sales which usually has a bit of a snowball effect.
I'll be there almost regardless but the pricing will likely dictate whether any of my mates who are walks ups will be joining me.

I like a rallying call before the big games. Well done to the OP, this game against the Hun is the biggest of our season. Nobody has to provide an excuse for not attending a football match , that would be ridiculous but if some of us can persuade the waverers we know personally to go along it can only be for the good. Win this one and we can start to realistically think about winning the whole thing. At home against them we, the fans, can make a real difference.

Or fan could try just having a rallying call post without the excuse patter and get a more positive reaction, since the negative posts seem to be pointing out the reasons why it won't sell out.
A run of form leading up to the game will help, over to Monty to get fans on board and give them a bit encouragement by winning games.

Correct.
If love to go to more games, but finances dictate it's season ticket games only for me and my daughter - and I've even missed a couple of them due to having to work weekends to make ends meet.
Rallying calls are all well and good to make yourself feel good on a football forum, but in the real world a lot of us find ourselves in these posts irritating/offensive.

Nothing wrong with the OP. If only people were so quick to pile-in on the boring trolls that only ever turn-up on here to remind everyone that hibs aren’t very good and hearts are better, or list all the reasons why people won’t be turning up and we’ve no chance as we can’t ’lay a glove’ on rangers.
If I’ve something better to do or can’t afford it I won’t go. Doesn’t offend me that someone is trying to drum-up a bit appetite and positivity towards the most important game of our season though.

There are bits of what you say I reluctantly agree with, predictions about actual numbers are probably out though, we will continue to do nothing about huns busting into the south stand so the numbers there will be massive and uncountable.
Elsewhere pointless searches will be carried out masquerading as crowd control

Some sad points of view on here.
We gave Celtic a good game the other night, there is no reason we can't give everything in this tie and hopefully it can be enough.
I am hoping the occasion will bring out a better atmosphere and if we start the first half like we set-up in the second the other night the place will be rocking :aok:

Massive match for us . Still 4 weeks away and 4 league games to play . Results and performances in those matches will obviously affect crowd . With so many new players plus internationalists and injured players returning noone really knows what Hibs team we`ll see in the coming weeks and months . But we can be sure that if we beat Rangers ( even if on penalties ) that the team and support will definitely think we can beat any of the remaining teams in semis and final .

It’s pretty straightforward. If we do well in the next four games we’ll sell more tickets. There are plenty people with the means and time to go who will simply choose not to if they think we’re going to get pumped. Seen it plenty times in the past. If there are thousands of empty seats then that’ll be the main reason. People are entitled to do as they please, it’s just disappointing when it’s the case.

Maybe one day, unconditional support for your club will come back into fashion.
Some time ago I joined the Hibs Supporters Association naively assuming it to be the organisation that led the way in galvanising the support.
Then I went to a meeting and all they talked about was how hard it was to run a social club. As much as I admire the thankless task of hard-working folks in running a licenced premises, I still yearned for a single body who would unify us and back the team.
In the meantime, we seem to be stuck with starting a thread on social media to rally the troops.

£26 would be a fair price for adults who make up the vast majority of the crowd. It should see a good take up. Much more than that, and it makes those folk who occasionally go think twice. Any more than £28 and it might put a fair amount off going.

Haven’t really looked at it from a Rangers perspective, but I think you’re right. Hibs away is one that Rangers fans probably wouldn’t have had down as one of their preferred ties.
Not that they would admit it of course, but deep down they’ll be thinking that it’s far from ideal.

The question is obviously around us showing that sort of form, and consistently. It was only a spell in the second half, but it was a bloody good one… no fluke about it, we had Celtic properly on the ropes. We’ve shown we are capable of it against the better teams in this league now. Writing the game off for us is just nonsense.
There’s a hint of positivity about the place since then. Some will do their best to drag that back the way, others will look forward to continued improvement and a massive game against the most horrible club on the planet.
