A breath of fresh air having someone that comes across as such a natural presenter fronting the show tonight.
I don’t want to diss Steven Thompson or Jonathon Sutherland but Amy just takes things to another level and holds everything together really well.
It just feels a little less cardboard and more professional.

I don't mind who the presenter is, I'd be happy with any old Irons, any old Irons, any, any, any old Irons.

Hutchy Hibby and I have noticed a clear wind up by stealth here coz I have counted 6 mentions of Irons here in this thread - after yesterday this is a clear violation of our convalescence period 🤭😂 Not that I’m paranoid of course 🤭

To be fair she could be awful at her job and I'd still watch. I'd rate her a 9 iron

Long road yet to reach the level of Eilidh Barbour, although on recent viewings, Amy wins the shoe battle hands down.

She also wins the “hahaha that’s never a penalty” battle if EB’s performance on Wednesday is anything to go by.

Opinions eh? I think she's brutal. Really awkward and stilted.
I love the Adventure Show but the last series was almost unwatchable with her as presenter. Thankfully she's been replaced for the new series.

Agreed.
Obviously connections through the family as, remarkably, her brother has ended up employed by BBC Scotland too.

I’m afraid I’m with you. It’s not so much what she says, which is no better or worse than other presenters, it’s how she says it.
I find myself not listening because I’m worried she is going to run out of breath. Her single sentences would fill a paragraph and the delivery is utterly monotone.
I would love to go back to the days where presenters told you what was about to come on and commentators simply told you what was happening in educated and entertaining ways, without trying to drive the narrative.
Which, of course, brings us to the other two presenters who seem set on exchanging banter but little information. It’s a tough watch

Bit of a mixed bag I see unless we’ve been infiltrated by Thommo & Sutherland who I still don’t mind and do a decent job!

OP must be a relative of Irons if he rates her.
I quite like Sacked In The Morning and holding my nose find Craig Leveins discussions with the managers on their common experiences interesting.
However Irons spoils it with her twittering and trying to join in with the banter.Notice the managers involved address Levein directly and mainly ignore her.

Didn't see last night's (couldn't face it for obvious reasons) but I've said the same about her before on here. I think she comes across really well (last time without any notes, from what I recall) and is head and shoulders above the other presenters (albeit the bar is low!).

This. I used to like Thomson when he wasn't presenting it but was a 'guest', but I think he's a crap presenter and Sutherland just continually uses tired old football cliches to try and show how clever he is, Amy's better than both of them in my opinion.

Right! This is becoming too much of a habit for me getting people, especially names, wrong. I think I may need to spectate on these threads in future rather than give my opinions.
I thought this thread was talking about the half time and full time analyses on many of the BBC Scotland live games and the weekend's Scottish Cup games. Watching Reporting Scotland just a little while ago, I cringed when the sports news was to be introduced by none other than Amy Irons. Then this complete stranger appears on my screen. I then checked out last night's Sportscene Highlights program on iPlayer and watched a bit of that. I am not about to delete my previous comment, as we should all acknowledge our mistakes (not yet anyway). Please may I change my expressed view on Amy Irons? My opinion is much closer to that of the OP, she is an excellent presenter. Big Marven is also an excellent summariser, personally not so sure about Peter Grant.
With apologies to the Op and to Amy Irons, I'd happily see her present Sportscene every time, as opposed to Steven Thomson, Jonathan Sutherland or Leanne Crichton.
Now it's time for me to take a breath

Listening to Levein is like being on morphine. The guy is a moron. Same as Biscuits, McFadden, Robbo, Craigan, Wullie Muller, all of the jambo and chums slavers. Irons is a breath of fresh air. Its about time the BBC scottish football was cleansed, free of Biscuits and his biased clique.

I thought she was good too.
And if it winds Joey Barton up, all the better.
However, Amy will have a fair bit to go in order to beat who I think is the best female presenter out there. OK, it's a different sport (cycling) but Orla Chennaoui is brilliant.
And a notable mention should go to my favourite female analyst, again, a different sport (cricket) but Alex Hartley is like a breath of fresh air. Anyone who can say "bumhole" on Test Match Special and get away with it is OK in my books!

:greengrin This was the first thing that came to my mind as well. If guests are talking over her head to address Levein, we all know why.
The only thing worth asking Levein about is why he missed the Dundee game in 1986.

Surely being on morphine is quite a pleasant experience?
I agree most of the pundits are brutal, particularly Willie Miller for whom you would need a good dose of morphine to tolerate his inane stating the obvious drivel.
I actually think Robbo is one of the better more balanced ones and have warmed to Ferguson due to his enthusiasm.

I’ve never seen Amy Irons present Sportscene yet, but met her a few years ago when she visited the golf club I’m a junior coach at to do a feature on our junior section, girls golf in particular, for The Nine on BBC Scotland.
Very personable and was polite and pleasant throughout the hour she spent with us with no airs or graces. Basically just the same persona off camera as on it.
Contrast that to a a year later when Brian McLaughlin wheezed his way up to the first tee to interview Doddie Weir and Gregor Townsend as they embarked on a charitable initiative. Dishevelled, miserable, ill mannered - basically just screamed of Hearts.

I’m probably in the minority on this one but I don’t mind Willie Miller. He’s not slow to critique his own team when they are playing mince which to be fair is most of the time. Can’t be easy watching Aberdeen, it’s probably a wee bit like watching Hibs only in a much colder environment.
