Got to start ahead of Vente

His first action won the free kick which lead to the goal.

Good physicality, gets shots away and is a proper vocal point

The power behind that bicycle kick was quality. Right in that spell where we looked like a better side than I’ve seen in months. What a goal that would have been to get us in front.

On Vente, I’d like to see him right up front during a spell like that.

The overhead kick was sublime. I’d give him the shout over Vente next week, despite how much I like Vente.

I still think DV did his job well tonight.

I’ll probably be being harsh, it I don’t think the spell happens without Vente on.

Maolida got Welsh booked instantly by being strong and turning him which lead to the goal. After that his hold up play, touches in and around the box and overhead kick out of nothing was what lead to us getting momentum.

I think Vente is shot of confidence, but he just doesn’t look a threat at all. I can’t remember the last time Vente had a shot never mind scored.

Think him coming on changed the game there. Vente has his strengths and in a half decent team he’d be a great asset as he looks a great finisher, but with the fact we’re struggling to make opportunities, Maolida gives us more of a focal point. He done well today. Would be starting him at the weekend.

100%. We were a different team when he came on. Has to start every week. Which is a real shame for Vente, as I think he is a really good player, he just does not get the service he needs for his game. Maolida gets in amongst defenders and unsettles them, creating space and opportunities all around him.

With the formation Monty prefers to play I think he is a better fit as that spearhead in attack. Really want Vente to get a goal or 2 as there’s no denying his effort and work rate but Maolida looks the part.

The only problem I see with starting him is his fitness atm, needing to press etc. He's looked far better right up top rather than off the left as well when coming on.

All the things you mention Maolida are just all things we don’t get from Vente IMO. We can’t just wait on a striker getting the ball rolled to him 12 yards out, we need them to go and make things happen which Maolida did. Would be my change for Saturday.

To be fair to Vente he was given the same job against CFC again as last time - man mark McGregor. Wherever CMcG went, so did Vente. Gave him very little space and effectively took one for the team again.

Strong, quick, mobile and direct. The kind of striker we’ve been crying out for.

I think he’s earned a starting place for Saturday.

Definitely worth a start. Vente's main problem is that NM would never have bought him in the first place. He doesn't fit this system. He's done his best, can't fault the guy, but Maolida can do all the things Vente can't.

Aye, we've turned a sniper into a carthorse basically. Fair play to Dylan, he's done his job, but this current arrangement suits neither party. Won't be in the least bit surprised to see a parting of the ways in the summer.

Is he maybe more of an impact player? He was brilliant against Killie and Celtic coming on as a sub. He was really poor starting against Rangers (albeit his first game) and poor starting against St Mirren (albeit everyone was).

McGregor had a very quiet game. TBH it's Youan I'd be dropping - if anything for the half-hearted effort on the 50/50 that led to the late penalty - and I'd like to see Monty go with Maolida front left, Vente middle and Boyle wide right.

Yes seems to be more effective as a sub

He will next couple of games as he’s quickly learning the pace and physicality of the game Jim. But he was very effective at leading that line when he came on and he occupied both Celtic’s central defenders which won set pieces, won possession, and closed them down not allowing them time.

He’s a big unit too. I’d want him starting very soon.

Moriah Welsh was on him like a rash and it was only when Celtic tweaked things and put CM more left mid that Celtic became more penetrative down our right. Thought Miller and Fish did really well last 15 minutes combatting that threat too, Fish had a couple of fantastic interceptions and tackles in that period.

With you there. He had a positive impact and contributed a lot to our capacity to counter attack with menace. I would be having him through the middle.

Why are we asking our main striker to come into midfield and mark McGregor , he should never be in his own half should stay as far forward as he can then centre backs dont get a chance to push forward. Better marking centre backs than midfielders.

Hibs contained them through real hard graft. It was very much a counter attacking game second half, we could have actually won the game.

Has Vente shown a great capacity to hold the all up and link play? He certainly grafted away and made it hard for Celtic to dictate the tempo in midfield

It's good to have options, desperate for Vente to get a goal, he's needing one so badly.

Looked good again at the weekend. No sign of any of the issues that had Hertha desperate to get rid. I wonder if the fact that his name is an anagram of "I'm a lazy man, I do 'E'" got him off on the wrong foot over there.

He looks very good through the middle but he's either not fully fit or not suitable to pressing hence why Monty used Moriah Welsh higher up to do most of his running for him. If there's a chance of getting an early deal done I'd try asap.

We might need to move Vente like Melkerson. I like him and think he's a good player but I'm not sure he fits what we want.

I would not be getting rid of Vente and especially not at the expense of Maolida. Yes he has started well but his recent track record would concern me that he would show enough to get a contract and then he would become a figure of frustration. I would not consider any signing talks with him until he has proven it consistently with us and yes.

Think what Maolida has shown in the last few games is that you need someone up there who can make something for themselves. His two goals he got the ball in decent areas but it’s been no more than a half chance when he’s got the ball. He’s been back to goal outside the box, had to make himself a bit of a space, get his shot away etc. We can’t play with a striker who isn’t capable of doing that or making something out of a half chance IMO.

But as BHFC says, Maolida can create changes for himself, where as Vente is more a finisher with service
Vente is a technically good footballer, but I’ve yet to see him carry the ball from deep and get a shot away. Probably Hibs haven’t been able to get the best out of him, with his best position or our team shape

Possibly, not mainly. Why would we keep a player that doesn't suit the way we play then ahead of someone else who does? I'm not wanting rid of Vente by the way, I'm just trying to understand the logic.

He has the attributes to play at a level way above our league IMO, though clearly there must be reasons why he hasn't done so sustainably. Between him, Youan, Boyle, Marcondes and Vente there is so much potential in an attacking sense if NM can find a way to make best use of it.

His turn/faint for his goal at the weekend was delightful. You can tell he’s a player. Chances are slim to none of getting him back for next season though, same with Emi.
