No, I'm not suggesting him as a new manager. And no, I'm not making the obvious point that a peak-Bartley is what we need in midfield ('though we do). I just love that he refers to Hibs as "my club":

"I wish I knew what was going on because I would try and help them the best I can because that's my club" (this is on the bbc with a link to their daily football podcast: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p0h90yb5)

You gotta love Big Marv!

Gotta love big Marv. Oh how I wish we had a Marv or a Matty Jack or even a Rowcastle……..anyone remember him? We’re missing a player who’ll sit and be a brick wall for us.

Loved him at Hibs, McGregor, Bartley and Mcginn down our spine excactly the type of players we are missing.
Bartley was quicker than he looked aswell.
McGregor was also quick and really aggressive defensively.
Mcginn was just class with a work rate to match!
If only we still had that spine.

As a senior hibs fan,I’m 70,I witnessed the tornadoes, the 0 7.whe had a centre half called Jim black,he never took prisoners,he would kick and push the opposition, and was not averse to kicking and pushing his teammates we have never replaced him .we need a winner,we don’t have one.

How about Roy Barry. Even Keane would have thought twice about messing with him.

Make him an assistant or part of a coaching team to an experienced manager, simple... Wed all love that and it would make sense ..

Not me , done nothing to suggest he’s qualified to be in a coaching role at hibs . Hardly , doing a great job at QOS.

Marvin was clocked as the fastest runner in the squad (including Martin Boyle) over 80 yards.

He was assistant at Livi for two of the best seasons in their history.

Steady on. Unless you mean a brick wall put together by somebody with no formal training. When they were pished.

No.

In 2001/02 they came 3rd and in 2004 they won the league cup.

I don’t think a 6th place finish when Bartley was there is up there.

Im 70 as well and what you say just shows how polar opposite opinions can be, as ive seen everything you mentioned and to me Jim Black was the weak link in that superb team.

Aye, it's why I said two of the best, not the two best.

2001 they had a bigger budget than us even. As they did 2004.

6th with a budget on par with a lower championship club in the top league in Scotland is an incredible achievement, Bartley was a massive part of that and you could argue they have fallen to **** since hes left.

Same here, always thought we should have signed big George Stewart a bit earlier from Dundee, he would have been a great addition and partnership with John Blackley.

Anyone who could stay in that team had to have been decent, he may not have been as gifted as Brownlie, Blackley et al but very few were.
