Good luck for the future, Christian.

Always gave it his all and weighed in with a good few goals too.

What a pity he didn't bury that header near the end at Killie, would have been a great parting gift.

The closest I've seen at the club to a guy that played as if he had the technical ability of someone plucked from the stand but through sheer will and determination made it work. His sclaffed goals were a thing of beauty.

If he hadn't had that awful injury I'm confident he'd still be our #9.

If he hadn't had that awful injury I'm confident he'd still be our #9.

Looking back at a news article when we signed him, it revealed that the previous season he had scored 14 goals, earned a lon move to Bolton who then agreed a £1M fee for a permanent deal with Forest Green Rovers. When Bolton hit financial strife the deal was off and Heckingbottom secured him for £350,000.

He had a lot more technical ability than I think we gave him credit for!

All the best Doidge and will keep my eye out to see how you get on for the rest of the season.

Did have a remarkable spell of form at Hibs with talks of should he be called up for Wales.

A few injuries at the end didn't help him but you can't say he gave it his all and another who will love the club forever.

Van Doidgedonk scored some important goals for us, but my favourite moment was his unexpected hattrick (killie was it?) after months of not scoring and getting roundly slagged really unprofessionally on sportsound for weeks by that dullard Richard Gordon.

In fact he had a great intelligence and his positional play was faultless, probably due yo his basketball background. And a class guy off the pitch by all accounts.

Good luck in the future Jean Pierre Papoidge.

Nothing that hasn’t been said before, but if we had 11 players out there every Saturday with Doidge’s effort, work rate and commitment to being a Hibs player, we’d be more than alright…

Never threw his toys out the pram when he was out of favour. He wanted to be here and he gave it everything while he was.

Top man and deserves nothing but the best. Good luck & thank you, Doidgey.

If Le Fondre stays fit i think he’ll be our option off the bench or to cover for injury. I think one of Doidge or McKirdy had to make way at this point.

I never thought he’d score a goal for us after he missed about four 1v1s up at Pittodrie in the one game. Thankfully he came good, was pivotal in the season we finished 3rd. Shame the injury he had and Covid took it out of him so much.

I’ve not got anything to add really, except that me and a few pals know Doidge as Diego, probably in some sort of loose reference to Maradona (I know).

The game never went the way we wanted but when he scored in the semi vs Hearts we were all on our feet chanting ‘Dieeggoo, Dieeggoo’.

Just a wee story there.

I don’t know what it was about him but I really liked him. I like people who score goals I suppose (who doesn’t?) and Doidge had a weird way of scoring them, outside a few screamers mind you.

I’m not sure that we have anyone with his ability to mix it up now mind you.

I wish the big guy nothing but the best.

Unconventional at times but effective, his desire deserved more bang for his graft. I still feel he had something to offer, but I understand big decisions need made to help Montgomery mould the team. Actually sad to see him go! Wish him all the best in the future career and beyond.

Made me wonder what his best goal for Hibs was. I really enjoyed his winner at Aberdeen in a 1-0 win.

Great goal but how strange to watch game with no supporters due to covid!

Never thought Christian was at the level we needed to be honest but would never doubt his endeavour, comittment and professionalism. I wish him well on his return to Forest Green the one club he really smashed it previously.

Probably deserves it's own thread. Cheers big man. Always gave everything for our club. Wish him well.

Late to the wake, but I'm really sad that Doidge is away. Have cheerled for him on here on many occasions and will keep an eye out for how he does down the road.

Thanks, Doidger, and best of luck.

Two really good guys and a great example of players that come in and appreciate where they are. Despite Doidge's limitations I never worried when I saw his name on the team sheet, you knew you'd get 110% and nothing less, and possibly a goal that came off a defender, skelped big Christian on the back of the head, and rolled into the net. Top guy, and same goes for Joe. You need guys like these at a club.

Previous posters stating he is a legend and a "a very good player for us".

Behave .. He tried his best and if everyone in the team tried as hard as him we'd be doing far better for sure.

His miss at the weekend unfortunately sums him up as a striker.

All the best Christian and thanks for the EFFORT..

Farewell Doidgy. Your determination and enthusiasm for Hibs was always there for all to see.
You had some lean spells but always fought your way back and scored some important goals for the team.
Thanks for all your efforts and best of luck mate

He only scored 5 goals off the bench in 5 years and only 1 of those helped us rescue a game.

I meant appearances as a substitute, not goals scored as a substitute

Played up against Riley Harbottle yesterday, that must have been a strange situation for both of them

Not sure why he was kicked out the door for a 20 year old

2 goals for big Christian last night to take Forest Green out the relegation places. They love him down here, sing his song non-stop. Terrific competitor!

Really pleased for him. He has a place here, but he deserves to be a key player for someone. Top pro.

Too good to sit on our bench imo. Best for his career if he's on the pitch. The guy will always hit the back of the net given a run of games. Wish him nothing but the best. Conducted himself with class while he was here. Good egg.

Conducted himself with class while he was here. Good egg. We have looked pretty short up front the last few games. I was never a huge fan of Doidge on the pitch but he was a great option to have and had a pretty good record. Hope he has a great time down at FG as he always seemed a really nice guy

He’s playing for a team at the bottom of League 2, the same level where Harry McKirdy was one of the best players in the league.

I loved Doidge the guy, the player however was not cut out to be leading the line for us in all but the worst case scenarios, and even then I think we can and will end up with better for the wages he was on.

I hope he does well at FGR but low end League 2 is probably where his standard is now.

He wouldn’t be close to getting any significant minutes in our team now. It’s a good thing for both us and him that he’s moved on, and hope he continues to do well and enjoy his football.
