Squad is not fit for purpose, he deserves the chance to bring in a few of his players, not ***** that Johnson brought in.
A good manager would get more out of the players we have. He’s took a player that looked like a good goalscorer before he came in and turned him into a box to box midfielder. He’s came in and said he’s not deviating from his favoured formation even though the players we’ve got don’t suit it at all.
He’s took a team that was good at scoring goals and bad at defending and made them bad at both.

NM's addiction to 4-4-2 will be his downfall. Call it arrogance or stubborness, whatever, it won't work in this league, on Hibs budget, on the time scales given to SPL managers.

Really frustrating as I thought we were great for the first few 30 minutes.
After that it was clear they twigged our only threat was to get the ball wide to Youan or Tavares so started doubling up. Once that happened we had nothing else.
3-4 players needed urgently.

Salvaged a point and a boooo at full time, still very disappointed with another week of dropped points.
A good sub to bring Rudi on who brought some energy, this system looks good on paper with the right players, second half again very slow and a lack of quality or belief to break down Motherwell at home.

I’d have probably taken a point when I saw the team and bench.
The footballing department of the club is an absolute shambles.
I have grave reservations about this manager. He’s so far built a system that is miles weaker than the sum of its parts. He needs to bring his own players in, but I honestly don’t believe that the players he needs to do justice to his system exist on our budget.
The season is a write-off tbh. Again.
We'll get nowhere playing the odd good 30 minutes here aand there, either the players are mentally weak, the manager is, or both. We can't afford a new team but we need at least 5-6 at the very least, another bloody transition period again.

68% possession and 3 shots on target. Pretty much sums us up. It's all well and good if the team is consistently clinical and has a rock solid defence. But unfortunately we don't. There's a serious lack of conviction in our play.

Our lack of shots on goal in recent games is really worrying. General lack of urgency in our play with an inability to properly capitalise when we’re on top has now become the trademark of this team.
Transfers needed. Change in attitude needed. As someone else points out, Youan off celebrating in front of the fans as if he’s scored the winner in a derby, whilst salvaging an equaliser at home to Motherwell sums it up.

Exactly ! If he doesn’t then it would be totally ridiculous … and sum up our failings as a club for the past fair few years … to expect a manager to come in and not be able to move on any players, nor sign any players, and want him gone already like some clearly do, as he has not managed to find success yet (how long has it been again since he came in 🙄) … jeez …. get a grip folks, and come back in a years time with your gripes and justifications - and suggestions for improvement that might actually work - IF he hasn’t managed by then to show us the positive way forward I believe he can imo.

Posted on another thread that it’s now 7 occasions where we have scored twice in a game but failed to win. The goals we lost today were nothing to do with the shape of the team or anything like that, exactly the same as the goal Shankland scored last week. The first half hour was some of the best play we've done for a while. The defending on their goals was a shambles. We should have a deep enough team to cover for injuries and players being away, but as Money hasn't had a window yet I dont think he can be blamed for that.

Equalising at home to Motherwell, should be bursting a gut to get that ball out the back of the net and back to kick off to get a winner.
Not knee sliding in front of the East like you’ve just won the game then plastering it all over Instagram when you’re likely still sitting in the changing room.

It was a pretty miserable afternoon watching us, we are really toiling to break teams down and are playing at a pedestrian pace that suits every other team in Scotland apart from us. I'm not sure what a number of our players are supposed to bring to the team, one of them being Vente. Why isn't this guy getting on the end of some of the cracking balls being put across the opposition goal? The only player I'm excited to have the ball is Tavares who really looks like he's enjoying his football right now.

I do.
Pull Jeggo deep so he can focus on winning the ball back and recycling possession to players more likely to do something with it and help protect the centre halves. Stick Levitt forward into a position where his passing can hurt team and his defending / work rate won’t hurt us. Instead of having Vente tanking about in midfield have him on the shoulder of the last defender where he himself said he prefers to play and where he presumably got the decent goal return he got in Holland over the past couple of seasons.
One tweak in personnel, several square pegs for the round holes.
Agree with you about the cheap goals FWIW but I think these changes would just improve us over the 90 minutes.

I thought we we're bullied as soon as they isolated Whittaker up against Bair. When whittaker came off we competed again, but Stevenson wasn't comfortable enough on his right to play the short sharp passes infield. When we went 3 at the back we were able to play on top of thier defence which suited us a lot more.
I'd like to see what was going on with Doidge when we put that last ball into the box, because the defender nearly had the shirt off his back - which should be a pen given the current VAR situation.

Jack Ross only left 2 years ago. That’s 8 players in a squad of about 25. It’s hardly the ‘same squad of players’, Infact that’s a huge turnover of players in that sort of space of time and in the case of a good few of them, they can’t be accused of contributing to Jack Ross’ sacking. In fact Martin Boyle and Doidge were outstanding for him.

I should say, I’d favour us going to a three in the middle of the park. I don’t think the current shape can’t work but it won’t work all the time (as we have seen).
As soon as we drop points or whatever, the cries are about the formation. People have made up their mind it the sole issue and to blame for everything. It just isn’t, not even close.

The first 30 minutes were the most enjoyable to watch in a long time, total dominance, with fast attacking wing play and decent balls into the box begging for a striker to get on the end of. We could have been a couple up before we eventually scored.
Motherwell equalise with their first real attack and we struggle to get going again in the attacking sense. Before you know it we're a goal down and chasing a game we have dominated.
Hopefully Monty can bring in a couple of gems who go straight into the starting 11.

He's being asked to do the job of two midfielders. Without him we would be bottom 3.
Spot on

Haven’t seen anything back yet, so could be well off the mark. But surely Marshall has to at least try and punch the ball headed back across our box for their second?
Yep … absolutely dreadful from Marshall. Should have come and taken the initial ball in and the ball that came back across his six yard box. Stood and watched.
Saw somebody suggest he gets a new contract…. Not for me.

Neither would be playing if Rocky and Boyle were here, Hanlon is finished.
Hanlon didn't look finished to me yesterday. \The difference in his quality on the ball and passing range just reminded me as to how poor Rocky (and to a lesser extent Fish) are at moving the ball effectively.

Agreed
The first 30 minutes were the most enjoyable to watch in a long time, total dominance, with fast attacking wing play and decent balls into the box begging for a striker to get on the end of. We could have been a couple up before we eventually scored.
Motherwell equalise with their first real attack and we struggle to get going again in the attacking sense. Before you know it we're a goal down and chasing a game we have dominated.
Hopefully Monty can bring in a couple of gems who go straight into the starting 11.

I was at the match and like you I thoroughly enjoyed the first 30 minutes. I wondered at the time why the system appeared to be working so well compared to previous games and I am convinced it was because as soon as Hibs got possession of the ball Motherwell simply retreated to get 10 men behind the ball asap. There was no high press from them as a result of which the our two centre backs had plenty of time to set up attacks. Other teams have used the high press against us and won turnover ball fairly easily.
Once Motherwell equalised it was almost as if panic set in!
I think NM will need more than a couple of gems brought in for the starting lineups because there are a lot of issues to resolve.

Only Neil Francis Lennon can save us now!
I doubt he'd be interested.

He’d be more likely to get us relegated.

Which is great but Hanlon was equally bad at defending. At the 2nd goal he's moving towards his own goal, watching the ball all the way.....all he had to do was head over his own bar to concede a corner. Instead he heads the ball back towards the penalty spot. Incredibly poor judgement.
