Wtf must be up there with the worst decision ever worse thing about it was giving a yellow. Gordon should be getting hammered for that. Ref couldn't wait to get the red out. Same ref at Dingwall for Marshall body slam goal

Depending on the angle he had I can sort of see why he initially gave a red, but having viewed it on screen he should not have even given a yellow. However there is an arrogance about or referees that means he was never going to admit it wasn’t even worthy of a yellow.

I liked how calm Vente was about the situation.

Awful refereeing though, and the boy rolling about holding his face should have been booked for cheating.

Yeah VAR hasn’t cracked down on cheating whatsoever.

How the heck it was still a booking is another mystery.

Could see it wasn’t a red card from the other end of ground.

What I didn’t understand is why Kane got to sit on the pitch for 4 or so minutes then jumped up and was allowed back on straight away.

Surely he should have been either asked to leave the pitch or helped of by medical staff to be treated?

Agree arrogance of the ref to look at him winning the ball no contact with Gordon and still brandishes a yellow. Absolute joker

Agree shouldn't even been a yellow the referee should know that as it is not a foul under the rules of the game.

Just another non biased man in black. No surprises anymore in Scottish Fitba.

If it’s the one over the other side of the park you’re talking about then he didn’t get to come straight on. He had to wait until the ref had checked him before he got on

Thought the ref was poor in general and 8 minutes wasn’t enough at the end. Wouldn’t have mattered how long was added today right enough.

The travelling up the line gaining territory at throw ins was laughably ignored. One in particular second half was a good 25 yards up the line from where it should have been taken.

Sadly our own performance as worse than the referees and we got absolutely what we deserved.

Difference of course being Vente made no contact with the opponent.

Nah nowhere near. He at least made contact with the Hibs player.

I was merely mischief making. Was more alluding to the debate that rumbled on between a few posters last season for the rest of the season about whether it was a red or not and whether contact etc made any difference or not.

I thought we should have had a penalty for handball late on. Don't know if VAR looked at it?

Sat within sight of the dugout I noticed that we had a monitor showing what I assumed was a match feed. Sergio Raimundo was straight over to it after “Red” then came back looking unconcerned and giving “head down” movements when VAR went to check. Looked more confident than I was anyway of a change of decision!

I’d like to see that again.

I always err on players reaction to gauging how strong a claim is when watching from a stand, and those closest to it seemed to be in no doubt.

We could have played an extra 80 minutes but we still wouldn’t have scored!

Tbh 8 minutes was about right. 6 subs 30 seconds each plus the time Kane was being treated.

Vente one today was similar to an incident when Lyndon Dykes scored for Scotland a couple of years ago (v Israel, I think?).

He met a cross with his studs at head height and directed the ball in, opposition defender went down holding his head as if he’d been poleaxed. Goal was initially disallowed.

VAR review shows absolutely zero contact with the defender (who has been getting physio treatment in the intervening period), and the goal is awarded,

It was, therefore, unbelievably blatant cheating by the defender, so so the fact that no action was then taken was unbelievable. Today was similar, Gordon should have been booked for his reaction.

The one replay looked like the ball hit some of Kane's body then arm but yet again ref very quickly keen not to give. Would have thought should be looked at for longer.

Baffled as to why he got booked.

Let me think the incompetent ref trying to make up for what was an utterly ludicrously bad mistake. Just like the one at Dingwall last season. Boy needs to stay off the sun beds :greengrin

Don’t think you have to go off if the player gets booked for fouling you?

Never a red card but I can see why he was booked, a high foot and at pace it could have looked a bad one, this is why we have VAR. The boy holding his face, he should have been asked why when there was zero contact. VAR done it's job thankfully.

We were terrible yesterday, could have lost by a good few more if it wasn't for Marsh.

A sobering day, but progress is still being made, progress isn't a straight line.

:agree: It definitely hit the St J player's hand, which allowed him to clear it. Does VAR automatically review that ? How do we know if VAR did or didn't review it ? Why was it deemed not a penalty ?

Bet if it was The Rangers playing it would have been reviewed for 5 mins.

100% a penalty in the last minute, baffled as to why it was not given.

It's the type of contact that shouldn't be a penalty, but under the letter of the law at present that is a penalty 100% of the time (unless it's a Sevco defender).

Under the two tier system -

Rangers & Celtic - Penalty
Rest - No Penalty
