Aware of publicity suggesting we were interested in signing Musa Toure, although still not convinced it’s fair dinkum.

Regardless of my view, he came on as a substitute today for Adelaide against Brisbane, was on the field for about 15 minutes and then went down in a heap after kicking the ball, and no contact with any other player.

Looked like a leg/knee problem…….stretcher came on but thankfully he was able to walk off, in tears.

BTW…if looking him up on Google,be aware there are another two of his brothers playing in Europe, so be careful you get the stats on the right one.

He’s hardly played a full game in the A League.

Pretty sure if we signed him he’d be in the development squad…..definitely not the first team squad.

The ‘news’ that we were purportedly interested in him came as a surprise to me, and I’m still not sure it’s fair dinkum

That's OK. Dylan Vente has hardly played a full game in the SPL. He'll be perfect!

Yep he said he was one of a number of Oz players they were tracking.

I'd still be surprised if we signed him.

IMHO it would be a pretty speculative signing given his lack of game time, and I say again, if we did then I could only see him starting off in our development squad..not the first team squad.

He's not deemed ready to start for Adelaide United on a regular basis yet....so don't see him suddenly being seen as ready for Hibs first team.

Monty is right that there are players in Oz who are worthy of our interest...doesn't mean we are going to sign them all though.

Just out of curiosity , with your knowledge of the game there who would be the players you'd think Monty might be interested in ?

There always a couple of undiscovered talents who seem to ‘have the stats’ to impress but haven’t caught the eye to any degree…..Strain was in that category……but he was signed not from Oz but after a season in Israel, and his team mate Baccus, really never stood out when here…he was ok, but no indication of being a European candidate.

My nomination of someone who would definitely be of interest would be Jacob Farrell.
He is a 21 year old left back with his old club who regularly gets mom awards and whom Hibs have been aware of for a few years now….I think he will be the next to go o/s..but he has a year on his contract to run and Hibs possibly don’t want to shell out a transfer fee

Having read the article it suggested that they are talking about players whose contracts expire at the end of this season.

Now, I’m not suggesting the 3 players from Monty’s old club whose contracts DO expire
Would automatically go into our first team, but Josh Nisbet, Max Ballard and Dan Hall all fall into that category.
Having worked closely with them Monte may see things in Hall and Ballard that I haven’t….but Wee Josh Nisbet is certainly a player who does impress most people in most matches.
Only issue is he is about the same size as an old Hibs player….Johnny Grant…..and that may have put o/s clubs off….but he is a very industrious midfielder.

The other thing that people in Scotland may not appreciate is that clubs like Bayern Munich, Man City etc etc take an active interest in what is available….so it’s no longer a gimme that if Hibs fancy a player…that he will jump at the chance to sign for them, as once might have been the case…….

Well thankfully we won’t be signing him yet.

His coach has came out and said he hasn’t played much first team football and is not yet ready for an overseas move……basically echoing what I have said.

He only needs one more appearance for Adelaide United to trigger a 12 month extension and his coach, Carl Veart, has said that will be done and he’s going nowhere.

He really, really isn’t ready for Hibs first team.

Could we not offer him a pre-contract in Jan and he’s out injured for at least a month?

Possibly, however if he played that enough games to trigger an extension then the pre contract gets extended by a year.

The 1 year extension won't matter a jot if we want him and he wants a move
