Boyle for Doidge and that’s the team I’d go for. I know he scored last night but I’d not be starting Doidge any more and I’d move him on in the January window if we can. Tbh Miler couldn’t complain if he lost his place after last night but I do expect him to start.

I agree with the general point on Doidge but, at risk of contradicting myself, he’s maybe not a bad shout to play through there. As much for his defensive capabilities as anything as we know what is coming from Livingston.

I’d be trying to free up some space for someone who is going to partner Vente in January because there’s been too much chopping and changing and nobody really nailing down the place. I think it would help Vente hugely also.

Absolutely agree re a partner for Vente, shame ALF isn’t 4 or 5 years younger. I wonder if we will though given we are likely not to have much if any funds to bring someone in and we have Melkersen returning and (potentially) McKirdy at some point.

Time to try Vente & Youan up top? Youan scored twice on our last visit there and was our liveliest attacker against Celtic.
Can we go with those two and Jair and Boyle out wide? It's asking a lot of the middle two.
Main thing is we need to be absolutely up for it against a Martindale side scrapping for their lives. That might mean Jeggo instead of Levitt.
Boyle wasn't at the races last night and I think he's better coming from deeper positions on the right. It might be an idea to give him a rest with Campbell carrying on wide right, although Josh is probably more effective through the middle.
If Stevenson plays and tucks in / doesn't get forward much, then Miller bombing up and down could maybe persuade Monty to stray ever so slightly from his shape and fit Levitt (right mid slot but not so wide) in along with Jeggo and Newell, but that doesn't look likely.

Playing Doidge away to Livi is playing into their hands. Keeping it on the deck and playing with a lot of pace is how you beat Livi away. Last season in the 2nd half of our 2-1 defeat and in our 4-1 win they struggled to handle the pace in our attack.

If we play it quickly to feet and the players play at pace and can handle the odd late tackle, we have enough to win this one with goals to spare. Would always have a fit Boyle in the line up, but that surface is an issue.

I think we need to get Youan back in the team.

He was frustrating during the week at times but all of our best attacking moves came through him.

He hit the post, got an assist, had a 1v1 and was as a whole at the heart of everything going forward.

I don’t think Boyle has been great recently (albeit he got 2 assists against Aberdeen and one against killie I know). But I’d maybe swap the two, or Youan in for Campbell.

I think stick with pace up top rather than Dodge.

The way we build up play in our own half suits having pace in behind.

I say it every time but when we play Livi on their pitch we should be lumping the ball long into the channels, the ball sticks up ridiculously to the point that long passes which would normally be miles overhit end up easily staying in play.

We should use their pitch as a weapon against them instead of complaining about how crap it is.
