Just woke up this morning and the village is covered.
Glad the game's not today or I wouldn't be making it out. How's it over in Edinburgh?

Roads are clear. About half an inch, if that, on the pavements. Blue skies appearing with the sun behind the clouds so might get a bit of a thaw.

There's a couple of today's games cancelled already, but both in the west (at Morton and Ayr Utd).

Forecast is for very cold but little to no snow. Only issue would be problems with undersoil heating

If the snow covering remains the same as it just now out my way I won't be able to make the journey tomorrow which is a pain

Went a run this morning.
Very little snow but it's compacted right down and frozen solid. Not the best for walking on. I'll be allowing plenty time to walk down to the game from where I park at Lochend tomorrow. Roads and pavements around there are always treacherous when it's cold

Livingston game called off. There is a minimal amount of snow out here, but that tinpot club can never seem to cope with any frost or snow.
I really they are relegated and piss off into obscurity where they belong

Absolutely. A straight swap for Dundee Utd with Livi and it'll probably be the strongest top-flight in a good while. Then maybe one of the Fifers for Ross County. Nothing against RC, nice wee town, friendly bunch, an actual grass pitch. It's just that we only seem to get them mid-week or winter, or a combination of the two of them!

Another reason why artificial surfaces should be banned as it's frozen. Clubs paying hundreds of thousands for var but can't have a decent grass pitch.

Quite heavy snow in Renfrew/Paisley this morning. Airport is having problems. Apparently the snow we got overnight will be repeated tonight over Edinburgh

Livi’s grass pitch was always a mess as well. The stadium was built in a stupid place

If anyone fancies taking in a non-league game there's one in Largs and one in Orkney.

The UK will presumably implode in its usual pathetic annual fashion now there's been a few inches of snow

We've more than enough "fixers" in scottish fitba at the moment.

:agree:
It’s pretty much the lowest geographical point in the town, almost every direction to leave the stadium is uphill
That said, there’s really no excuse for a match to be cancelled on a plastic pitch, there’s certainly no issue with the roads and paths in Livingston.

Their pitch is a joke. If the weather is anywhere near freezing next week we’ll end up with a free weekend as well.
Not sure I follow, what difference does it being plastic have to do with it, if it gets frozen it gets frozen, it would still need to have heating going to it for it to not be frozen
Plastic is supposed to be more weather resistant, and should be less likely to get waterlogged (which isn’t the issue here admittedly)
At this level, there’s no excuse for not having the heating on. However, with a grass pitch, there’s a chance that a heavy snowfall could cause the pitch to become waterlogged as the snow melts, that won’t be the case with a plastic one as it won’t absorb the water and should be drained off easily.
Also, how long does it take to thaw out a plastic pitch? It was an early morning inspection for this match, surely they could get the heating on and have it ready for an afternoon kickoff.

Not sure if I misremembered this, but wasn't there a game cancelled in similar circumstances last(?) season because they refused to put the heating on?

Livi decommissioned / removed their undersoil heating a few years ago.

It's cheaper to let the country stop for a few days than invest in preventative measures as we don't get snow enough to justify it.

Not sure why I deleted my post!! Is it actually plastic though? To be fair no matter what their pitch is its still crap!

Sea air I think mainly keeps it minimal in Leith if at all, you know its bad when it snows in Leith

Last sentence is definitely bang on!
The pitch is Astro/plastic/synthetic/whatever the term is these days. It’s not grass in anyway, they tore up the grass pitch when they got promoted to the premier league
