Much prefer yesterday's to the purple version. Don't know if stats would bear it out but I feel more confident when I see us run out in that kit. I know there are games where we can't wear it (Celtic away being the obvious one) but I'd personally prefer to see it deployed ahead of the purple whenever possible. And TBH there's actually no need for us to wear an away kit at Celtic anyway.

Any mileage in suggesting the purple kit has a negative impact on our performances?

Our home kit should be worn against Celtic. It doesn’t crash with theirs. Never has.

Yep, it was never a issue when I was growing up.

I basically just hate the purple kit - and all its variations. Always have, even as far back as the 70s when I think it was introduced by Tom Hart. Never really felt it's a Hibs colour.

Who knows maybe it clashes a bit more from an on field point of view rather than a view from the stands

Domestically we have worn the purple kit 3 times this season - 2 defeats and 1 draw.

Ivory kit also 3 times - 2 wins, 1 draw .

Got beat at Villa in Ivory kit too.

I'm in agreement with you on the purple kit, don't like watching us in it.

I remember us in 2014/15 Championshio season we wore the white away kit a lot. We had a good record in it and the players apparently preferred wearing it to the dark horrendous home kit that year.

White (or Ivory) away Hibs kits tend to look brilliant, I'm all for them.

We had a brilliant home AND away kit under McLeish. Always associate the white away shirt with Zitelli's overhead kick at Dundee.

Only time I've ever seen us win at Celtic was in a purple kit (3-2 circa 1992) but the black shorts made it a bit more bearable somehow.

Controversial opinion but I've never liked a purple Hibs strip. Prefer white, yellow or black.

That and the Bukta one with the yellow and green are the only decent purple kits we've had.

I'd love a dark blue away kit, with a hint of a saltire in the pattern.

We had dark blue training kits a few years back and they looked really good.

I agree. I don't get why some folk reject blue out of hand. Well, I do, but it's daft. There's billions of clubs that wear blue as well as the Orcs. Only maroon is out of bounds for me.

Definitely with you on this, never get the purple obsession. Really hated the green and purple striped effort by mitre that so many seem to love.

I love a purple Hibs top. This year's version was ruined by the horrible trim, otherwise I'd have got myself one. I really don't like the 3rd kit this year though, the colour is horrible IMO.

I’d say it’s the only time we really would need a change kit in the SPL. No clashes with any other club but this would be a bit of a chaotic watch with the modern day “busier” kits than those of the past.

That's where Im at, never liked purple, not a hibs colour. It's rank.
Black, white or gold/yellow for away tops I'd go for.

I wonder if there is anyone (one of us) out there who actually doesn’t like Hibs playing in green - unlikely but you never know 🤭It’s hard to imagine how anyone would like the jobbied turd colour of strip but I suppose there must be a few ☹️

Shame we haven't won it yet but the time will come

:agree:

By any reasonable measure that's a kit clash.

There was a game I was watching the other night and the ref was wearing orange socks with a sky blue top (usual socks for that top are also blue) because his socks were too close to one of the teams. These things are just much stricter now. Same with undershirts, compression shorts etc all having to match the main kit colour and goalkeepers generally not being allowed to wear the same colour as each other.

Hibs and Celtic changing kits is hardly a new thing. I have an old programme from April 1988 that has a 'last weeks action' section. The pictures of said action show Celtic wearing yellow at Easter Road. I've also seen a video of Tony Higgins scoring against Celtic with Hibs wearing yellow some time in the late 70s or early 80s. I'm sure I have a hazy memory of Celtic in hoops and Hibs in green in the early 90s and the ref ordering Hibs to change into green shorts at HT as he was struggling to tell the teams apart.

It maybe wasn't as much of an issue in the 60s and 70s when Hibs wore a block green that was a shade or 2 darker than what we wear now and Celtic's hoops covered the whole top. With sponsors, Celtic having bigger white gaps on their sleeves in recent years and Hibs fancy for hooped socks in the last couple of seasons there is no way we would ever both be permitted to wear our home kits. It would be a nightmare for the players and referees.

Scientific research has proved that White shirts are the easiest to pick out visually by team mates.

Only one study by Olde Rikkert et al. (2015) has focused on the effects of outfit color on the assessment of players' positions. Their analysis revealed the widest angle of perception and location assessment was for players wearing white when compared to other colored jerseys. ...

I also really like White away kits...so they look good and make it easier for players to pick each other up in peripheral vision...I'd be having a white away kit every year...I'm not a fan of the yellow kits personally, but I beleive they came second in the scientific study...I doubt they even tried purple !!

Away kt preferences always spark a good debate. I don’t like purple; just don’t like the colour. All yellow for me, or reverse home kit.

That Celtic yellow kit always puts me in mind of the Steve Archibald-inspired 3-1 win we enjoyed over them in 1988:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aqFqi-RAzWU

And yes you're right, there were occasions back then when one side or the other would wear their away kit, but there were matches into the 1990s where the home kits were worn (as you say, green shorts were sometimes worn by Hibs while I think I recall Celtic wearing all-green socks on one occasion):

https://wikifoundryimages.s3.amazonaws.com/77430483b35c7721bd3dc2581dd880d2

Maybe today's socks are the sticking point but I'm still not convinced that a solid green shirt with white sleeves clashes drastically with green and white hooped shirts.

There was a game we played not so long ago (possibly v Raith) when both sides had white sleeves and despite the other side's shirts being navy it was really hard to tell them apart.

I'd like (for one season only) to see us have a home kit that is the reverse of the current Green and White. Bayern Munich have done it this year and the strip is brilliant:

27455

And the reverse Hibs away kits of the late 80s early 90s were magnificent.

27456

I think it would be a winner overall with fans selling hugely and then make us appreciate our tremedous traditional home kit even more the following season.

And if the science is correct we might win more games. I mean look at the greatest club side in the world., Real Madrid - white strip.

Good to see the purple kit feature in its first win.

Why we were wearing it against a team in yellow I have no idea mind you!

Yes agreed! Although I'd take a yellow with green sleeves, as longs the yellow was pale and not that horrendous bright it sometimes is.
